Curious Timing

I’m traveling today, so (unless KG’s trip has been delayed) posting will be light. That said…

As I understand the way the Parliamentary circus works, at certain times Private Members’ Bills (those Bills submitted by Parliamentarians which are not Government-proposed) are drawn at random from a blind ballot. Now, I’m not a great believer in consequences and I find it, well, curious that Louisa Wall’s Bill to allow homosexuals to “marry” has been drawn from the ballot at this time.

A number of interesting things are happening or about to happen in New Zealand. First, John Key is about to show his usual intestinal fortitude and cave in to radical separatists in the Apartheid Party over “ownership” of water. Can’t let people be talking about that, can we? Quick – look over there! Gay Marriage!

Secondly, while the political elites were celebrating last night, patting themselves on the back for a wonderful job well done with the plans to rebuild Christchurch (on the same site, where the foundations will sink into the marmite created by the earthquakes), the Proles expected to pay for this Monument to the Glorious Central Committee are deeply, deeply upset about the fact their houses are still in ruins.

There are, of course, plenty of others. I expect the government to cave in any day now on changes to welfare arrangements, for example.

But as I said, I find the timing curious. I mean, Cameron Slater has been banging on about homosexual marriage for the past 3 months or so now, with not much of a whimper from him before that. I don’t mean to suggest Slater has managed to corrupt the ballot, but I do think he’s a Cultural Progressive (or at best a Useful Idiot for the Frankfurt School types) and I suspect someone saw his campaign and thought the timing too good to let go to waste the opportunity to open up another front in the war on the traditional family.

So the Bill is drawn, and one man – Colin Craig – has taken a principled stand. He’s suggested it be dealt with via a Referendum. Of course that will never do, so John Key has unleashed his foot-soldier (Slater) and Bill English has done the same (with Farrar) to smear Colin Craig. Not for suggesting a Referendum. No, that would be too obvious. In typical Leftist fashion they’re playing to man and not the ball. He’s clearly a religious nutter (doesn’t even attend Church!) so nobody should listen to him.

The question is, why not let this be decided via a Referendum? The answer, as most thinking people will know, is in a Referendum the motion would be defeated unequivocally. And then the odious scum the voters send to Wellington would have to (once again) spit in the face of those voters, and do what they were always gonna.

Oh, and if you’re interested, there are some wonderful examples of the caring and tolerant Left making posts on Colin Craig’s FaceBook page. If you look at Slater’s you’ll see he fights like a girl Progressive. Fling poo about as liberally (sic) as possible, and don’t answer a single point.

Cam values marriage so much, he broke his own vows. But no-one noticed, because he was too busy hurling abuse whilst screaming ” LOOK – GAY MARRIAGE!!!!!!!”

I too find this all very curious. Like a disease, it’s rapidly spread around the Western world. Coincidence?

  2. WAKE UP says:

The people talking about re/building Christchurch are in both fantasy-land and deep denial.

      Excellent article here:

It looks like Big Brother (NZ Chapter) is not going to let a good crisis go waste by building a government approved and designed New Christchurch that puts everyone in neat corners and create AWESOME state buildings, so that the Outer Party be most impressed.

Meanwhile…the Proles are said to be unhappy because they still camping out in tents…LIKE WHO CARES?

  4. Rufus says:

wake-up – would you explain why you think that?

  5. James Stephenson says:

I think you overstate Cameron’s influence. In reality the debate seems to have sprung up in the US, then been picked up in the UK by a Conservative Party desperate to ditch the “Nasty Party” tag and Slater and other elements of the Nats have just thought “that’s a good idea, we should copy that approach” (hence the ongoing series of “Labour is the Nasty Party” posts).

Colin Craig just doesn’t seem that smart to me. Why the fuck didn’t he just say that laws should follow from what society wants, not be used to tell society what to think and therefore we should have a referendum? Instead he comes out with all that stuff about “lifestyle choices”, which is just asking for it.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

James, I think I may have slightly misrepresented my position. I think Slater has gone off into that place he inhabits and launched his crusade for gay marriage. I think whoever controls the ballot sees the planets aligning and manages to arrange for Wall’s Bill to get pulled from the ballot. I think that, having occurred, Slater and Farrar were despatched to vilify Craig, by flinging as much poo at him as possible.

I also think that the push by the far Left on gay marriage in the US, Britain and Australia makes the timing of Wall’s Bill coming from the ballot even more curious.

  6. PeterPumpkinHead says:

I am surprised to see you being such an obedient statist, KG.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Not KG. this post is mine. And I’m not a Statist. If you have a sensible comment to make, then make it. Flinging epithets around doesn’t work here; we expect people to debate and discuss like grown-ups. If you want to fling poo, go to Farrar’s.

  7. mawm says:

Really, who still reads Slater’s mingy little blog or even worries about his opinion? He comes across as not having all his synapses firing at the same time. :wtf As for Farrar’s …… it must be years since I last visited it and I doubt that anything has changed in that time.

  8. I am curious at Cameron Slater’s view on marriage.
I am all for it, but now we have civil unions, I don’t see it as a pressing issue.
The economy is far more important.
But back to Cameron Slater, I was more appalled that he favoured Brack Obama over mitt Romney.
We on the right might have our doubts concerning Mittens but surely the onthing that should unite us, is the need for the USA to remove the Obamination!

    • The Gantt Guy says:

I’ve seen, heard and read a lot of the Leftertarian set saying they’re gonna go for BHO over Romney. I guess they’re terrified of devout men who, when backed up by a Tea Oarty Congress and Senate, will try and put America back together. They hate the idea of American Excellence, I guess.

  9. Rufus says:

re: Colin Craig – agree. He could have made his case better. He needs some serious media training – the good kind – since they hate him and will do anything to make him look bad. He has to avoid giving them ammo.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

I liken Craig to Tony Abbott. He’s a smart guy with a sound community spirit and a stable, traditional family. Ergo the Fourth Estate Fifth Column and their fellow-travellers seek to ridicule him by taking snippets of his statements and blowing them up to make him look like a religious nutter.

In reality, he terrifies them. But, come 2014, watch John Key come sniveling around to invite him out for a cup of tea.

      • jonno1 says:

Agreed GG. I also am a bit disappointed in Colin Craig. His poor media showing is partly, but not entirely, a result of media spin. 2014 will indeed be a watershed; either the Conservative Party will be king-maker, or it won’t! Winston’s current stance re Louisa Wall’s bill is interesting too.

        • Andrei says:

Winston’s current stance re Louisa Wall’s bill is interesting too.

No it is cowardice – anyone who speaks up is going to lynched in the press.

Sexual Deviant “marriage” is a done deal and the degenerates will have their triumph.

And those of us who haven’t lost our marbles will have to suck on it.

The west is on its way out

          • jonno1 says:

It could be cowardice Andrei, or it could be a strategy to keep the media guessing, who knows with him? On balance, despite his many faults Winston is a conservative with (I suspect) a conservative constituency.

BTW I hope and pray that you’re wrong with your middle para.

          • I’ve resigned myself to the fact that the village idiots are running the village and they’ll push the nonsense through and call it common sense.

I’m 29 and either my generation or my my kid’s generation is going to have to pick up the pieces from this and the other assorted craziness. It’s my job to teach them how and why to fix the mess.

  10. Ismellarat says:

Yes it is interesting: I’ve checked back on recent events and within the space of 16 days we had USA President Obama, UK Prime Minister Cameron, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, NZ Prime Minister John Key and Canadian Leader of the Government in the Senate Marjory LeBreton all coming out with statements in support of gay marriage – why was this so important all of sudden? Particularly given three of them are “nominally” conservative leaders, four of them have major coalition or re-election issues and all of them face dire national problems in the worst economic crisis in 80 years. Coincidence? I think not.

    • mawm says:

The left is pushing its agenda as hard as it can……………because they know that the Won is a gonner and with that their best ever chance of “fundamentally changing” the world is also gone.
Have you also noted how many UN “treaties” have suddenly “appeared” so as to be ratified by signatory countries? :rant

Speaking as an ancestor of people who came over for cleaner air from 1690′s – 1740 when nobody had thought of the USA, as a 66 yr old white male, as a Birther, a tea party guy who attended the first party in my area 4-15-09 & heard myself & 4,000 attendees included in oBowa’s and Big Sis’ list of potential terrorists, a fellow who wants to see oBowa’s school records [did he really attend anywhere & who paid for it?] , etc.

Over the past month two men have spoken to me about our situation and how they are well supplied with needed items. I did not know them and had never seen them in my life. That says a lot. They were years younger that me.

We are infested with islam jihad oil money in every damn way. The first book I read after 911 was “Infiltration” believe by Paul Speery. Every word rang true and shocking, Saudis in Washington cheering. EVERY time I see an airliner I think about the ROP.

It is all about money, the stealth jihad that is like maggots in our dead bodies. What we gonna do?

Have a good day. Hi to HarvardPotatoHead!!!

    • The Gantt Guy says:

What we gonna do? Most people ain’t gonna do nothing. They’ll vote for the Boy Wonder thinking that 4 years of hope n change just ain’t been long enough and if he just has another term there’ll be rainbows and rivers of gold. The seas will stop rising, the earth will heal and all will be right with the world.

The rest will keep quietly preparing for the inevitable moment. Some may even decide the moment has come, and will make government a dangerous occupation.

  13. The member’s ballots are drawn on Wednesday’s of certain sitting weeks (which weeks escapes me at the moment).

From memory there was a “gay adoption” bill drawn recently too. Obviously the “discrimination” against gays in NZ is disasterous to our national health.
