No wonder Kiwis are leaving our shores at a 1000 a week :rant

  2. KG says:

Yep–and plenty of the Maoris I speak to over here say they’re glad to get away from the bludging whanau…..
Mind you, there’s one irritating kind of Kiwi we get here–usually agency nurses, who arrive with a superior or dismissive attitude towards Australia. They’re happy to come here to make twice what they can earn in NZ though. Most times the locals are glad to see the back of them.

  3. KG, I really think dark times are just around the corner for NZ, and MMP has opened the door for it. When you get National, the so-called centre right party in bed with the far-left Maori Party, we know democracy has failed. And the recent poll shows Labour and the Greens would hold power if an election were held now. Maybe John Key should have thought about this before he deserted his own constituents.

    • mawm says:

I heard Key saying that come next election his support will come from somewhere…………he doesn’t know where, but somehow he’ll get it. It’s not a big thing to him just like the gay marriage thing isn’t either. ?????? The Greens.

Does he not have a clue? Instead of sucking up to the Mouldy and adapting all the lefts policies he could have espoused true blue values and retained Nationals traditional supporters.

      • KG says:

I reckon he started out as a person who merely wanted that pretty bauble at the top of the tree and then became addicted to the power of it, Mawm.
Power, and never mind a few trashed principles along the way.

        • MvL says:

“Does he not have a clue? ”
No, mawm, I don’t think he has.
I liken him to one of those hover mowers that were popular a while ago. The advertising slogan for which was……..
Floats on it’s own airstream

          • The Gantt Guy says:

I think you’ve all nailed it.

Except I don’t believe he has any driving principles. He sees absolutely no incongruence with leading an ostensibly centre-right party with a comparatively conservative base while at the same time trashing a genuinely Conservative potential coalition partner and cozying up to a far-left party which seeks a two-state solution. No incongruence whatsoever.

His background is market trading, which basically involves sniffing the breeze and moving as quickly as possible to profit from it. There is no long-term in that environment, and that’s exactly how he’s running the country (into the ground).

            • Andrew Berwick says:

              far-left party which seeks a two-state solution

The Maori party seeks a one state solution. One state. One Nation. Maori Nation

              it’s on their own website.

  4. KG says:

“When you get National, the so-called centre right party in bed with the far-left Maori Party, we know democracy has failed”
That’s it in a nutshell, Conservative.
There is no party which represents conservative New Zealanders. And a Labor/Greens coalition, while it might be a disaster would hardly be worse than Key’s Quisling Gang.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

      Serious question:

In what meaningful way would a Shearer/Norman government be worse than a Key/English one?

The destination is the same, the only difference is the pace of the journey. We’re rooted. Completely, utterly rooted.

    • Andrew Berwick says:

There is no party which represents conservative New Zealanders.

There is the conservative party. Polled three times as much as ACT in 2011 – after a six week campaign.

  5. KG says:

“The destination is the same, the only difference is the pace of the journey. We’re rooted. Completely, utterly rooted.”

    Absolutely.

  6. Alan says:

You know, youv’e got to hand it to the looney lefties. They beat the right hands down
when it comes to getting their message across. They pull the perceived right further
to the left so they then become a party of the center left as in the case of Key’s mob.
They are much better organised and corrupt, the recent U.S. election proves
that. MMP has something to do with it in the little socialist utopia known as
Aotearoa New Zealand. I do not see a lot changing in the foreseeable future.

  7. Angus says:

Has everyone seen this ? Policy remits offered up at the 2012 Labour conference.
    http://www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2012/11/be_afraid_be_very_afraid.html

If this lunacy is what Labour activists dream up , I’d hate to see what the Greens would want. Unbelievable. Just look at that Marxist crap.

  8. KG says:

Dead right, Alan. I’m sick of the “we mustn’t sink to their level” and “we have to hold on to the moral high ground” bullshit when it comes to discussions of how conservatives should deal with the left.
The moral high ground is poor compensation for losing–show me a good loser, and I’ll show you a loser.
We’re in an existential dog fight and we urgently need to grow some balls and canine incisors.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Fuck the moral high ground. There’s one simple axiom I wish we could learn:

      PROGRESSIVES LIE

It’s a simple statement of fact, demonstrated to be true over, and over, and over, and over again. Yet, we never seem to learn.

We must learn to fight the same way they do. Our ideas are better than theirs. Our people are better than theirs. Our tactics suck shit.

  9. KG says:

Welcome to the future, Angus.

  10. mistress mara says:

So KG, life is a vale of tears. Or a fail of fears. Or a trail of jeers. Or all three. SIGH … I wonder sometimes why we want to live at all . Erm, just kidding. Mostly.

    • KG says:

We keep on because there’s no real choice, is there Mara? But for all the crap out there, life can still be a magical thing. In parts.

  11. barry says:

Do you think the maorification of our country is already past the point of no return?

  12. Oswald Bastable says:

I’m hearing a lot of folks talking positively about the new conservative party. Now if that were just to translate into votes…

    • KG says:

I hope it does, Oswald. But I fear that socialism in various forms has taken such deep root that there just may not be a large enough constituency left to make a genuinely conservative party viable.

  13. mistress mara says:

If this Conservative chap doesn’t go bonkers on religion and doesn’t get distracted by zealots of any stripe , I reckon he’s in with a chance. Zeus knows we need another voice in Govt.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Well done, mistress. You’ve been completely taken in by the MSM and political pundits’ meme that Colin Craig is somehow a religious nutter who’s going to demand as part of a Confidence and Supply Agreement, the banning of everything from vibrators to internet porn to solo mothers.

That’s exactly the tactic that will see the Conservative Party beaten, and I thought you had more sense than to get suckered by it.

In fact, Mr Craig has said (time and time and time and time again) that while he professes Christianity he isn’t dogmatic, and in fact doesn’t even attend Church regularly. Hardly our side’s version of the Taleban, is he?

If you read the Party website, you’ll see not much at all there about religion. What you will see is a strong emphasis on asking the People what we want, on making Citizens Initiated Referenda binding on the political classes, on welfare reform, on strengthening (traditional) families. Real, genuine CONSERVATIVE policies.

Which is why the MSM hate him. Which is why the left hate him. Which is why pretenders like Farrar and Slater hate him.

I’m not aligned with the Party (other than giving them two ticks in 2011), but I’ve written to Mr Craig and recommended he court a marquee candidate to assist in 2014. It’s been widely touted, for example, that Michael Jones desires to enter the political arena. I believe the Quisling Key has had discussion with him. Personally, I think he’d be a much better fit in the Conservative Party. But that’s just me.

      • mawm says:

Although Mara has a point……….any mention of religion in the Conservative Party manifesto or by Craig will immediately be pounced upon by the media as proof of his very far right wing, redneck, looney, islamophobic, homophobic, gun-toting Christian fundamentalism.

  14. KG says:

Sounds like six reasons to vote for the man.
