But… but..what about the consensus?

‘The world’s greatest snow-capped peaks, which run in a chain from the Himalayas to Tian Shan on the border of China and Kyrgyzstan, have lost no ice over the last decade, new research shows.
The discovery has stunned scientists, who had believed that around 50bn tonnes of meltwater were being shed each year and not being replaced by new snowfall.

‘scientists, who had believed ‘. It is not the work of a scientist to believe.

Absolutely correct. It is the task of scientists to skeptically interrogate the universe and not to subscribe to cultist bullshit.

  3. KG says:

Quite so. But a religious cult needs believers, Robert. ;-)

  4. Flashman says:

Environmentalism is one of today’s denominational religions. Faith and self-generated beliefs are integral to this crackpot spiritual dogma.

Objective disconfirming facts have nothing to do with it. Indeed they “get in the way”.

But no, that can’t be right. The Reverend Al said they were melting, so melting they *must* be!

“In the 16 years we have been coming to these conferences, there has been no global warming,” Monckton said as confused murmurs filled the hall and then turned into a chorus of boos.”
The “confused murmurs” bring to mind cockroaches scurrying round as their rock is lifted, exposing them to reality. The “boos” are when they realize that the gravy train might leave without them after all.

This big country will laugh to itself, shrug, and the droughts and floods will continue as always.
Right now, I’m sitting here on a very hot night, smelling the bushfires from a thousand kilometres away. Caused by dry lightning storms, they’ve happened for a million years. The Wet will follow, then probably another drought.
If a puny little red-headed commie claims she can change this, she’s deluded or so dishonest the cow should be behind bars.

They don’t care for the facts, no matter what they are, it’s all our fault and some sort of tax is desperately needed. The sad thing is that most out there are either too stupid to know otherwise or too lazy to give a shit.

Fortunately for us, most are going broke so they won’t buy into the crap even if it’s not for the right reasons.

  9. KG says:

“.. either too stupid to know otherwise or too lazy to give a shit.”
Exactly. The dumbing down of the younger generation has been a huge “success”. (not that there’s any real shortage of dumb older people, mind you)
