Open House

And to kick it off, there are signs that NZ’s justice system may at last be beginning to get the scrutiny it so badly needs….
Rodney Hide: “..I was innocent back then, too. I hadn’t seen up close how the New Zealand police hierarchy behaves when backed into a tight corner. And I hadn’t seen Crown Law stick to their guns arguing against all reason and clear facts. I didn’t know then how the police play the media and how the public respect for the justice system is abused by those charged to uphold it…”
The real issue is not whether David Bain is innocent. The issue that should concern all Kiwis–but doesn’t–is the fact that the Privy Council was canned and replaced with a third-rate “Supreme Court” staffed with judges who can most charitably be described as mediocre. And less charitably as incompetent government stooges, indifferent to the phrase
Fiat justitia ruat caelum

And for the Fuckwit Of The Year award:
‘..Gun Control Australia spokeswoman Samantha Lee said banning high-powered weapons was the best way to tackle crime and firearm offences.’

This is dimwitted on so many levels, I’d be amazed if this dumb cow is able to feed herself or tie her own shoelaces. That people such as this are likely to drive legislation is profoundly depressing.

KG, my comment the other day on “Travelling” was crass and unthoughtful. So shoot me. Just remember that I’m your friend, not your enemy.

  3. Darin says:

    Christmas Bells-
I heard the bells on Christmas Day
    Their old, familiar carols play,
    And wild and sweet
    The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men.

And thought how, as the day had come,
    The belfries of all Christendom
    Had rolled along
    The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men.

Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
    A voice, a chime,
    A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men.

Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
    And with the sound
    The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men.

It was as if an earthquake rent
    The hearth-stones of a continent,
    And made forlorn
    The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men.

    And in despair I bowed my head;
    “There is no peace on earth,” I said;
    “For hate is strong,
    And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men.”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
    “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
    The Wrong shall fail,
    The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men!”
    Henry Wadsworth Longfellow -1861

Those last two verses are fitting for these times, despair for now victory for later.

where have we heard this before?
    ‘NZ police trial surveillance drone
Police Association president Greg O’Connor says it is an innovative breakthrough for police.
Mr O’Connor said that despite concerns of privacy campaigners, innocent members of the public had nothing to fear.

So, this won’t violate the privacy of innocent people?
Smart drone, that. And Kim Dotcom might beg to differ…..

As I commented a couple of weeks ago KG…….BROWN SHIRTS anyone? Maybe even STASI.
In NSW you don’t get a rego sticker anymore ( Jan 1st ) and reading the propoganda sheet it states that the police will use their number plate cameras to check your rego.So guilty until proven innocent.
Does anyone else have a problem with this?
      D.T.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

I got a cool RC helicopter for Christmas. I can easily add a wireless webcam to it. Is that also cool, or is it only state-sponsored perverts that get a pass?

  5. KG says:

“Does anyone else have a problem with this?”
I doubt very many will, DT. Too many people simply don’t value privacy any more, particularly the younger ones.
It seems privacy has been deliberately eroded, because in order to have a presumption of innocence, one must first have privacy.
That would never do……..to be all-powerful, the State must be all-seeing.

  6. KG says:

“.. is it only state-sponsored perverts that get a pass?”
    Of course.
