Free speech in Australia?

‘COALITION Senator Cory Bernardi tested the patience of his parliamentary leader Tony Abbott by affirming his support for Dutch MP Geert Wilders, who has been forced to cancel a speaking engagement in Perth because no venue was willing to provide him a stage.
…Senator Bernardi contrasted the difficulty Wilders had in obtaining a visa with the Federal Government’s preparedness to issue them to Taji Mustafa, a senior figure in Hizb ut-Tahrir, and Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, who has described Jews as “rats of the the world.”
“There are myriad reports from a previously harmonious and tolerant Dutch society where Jews and gay people no longer feel safe from attack by Islamic fundamentalists,” the Senator said.
“And yet, it is Wilders who is characterised as an extremist.”
…The withdrawal of support for Wilders follows strong public comments from West Australian Premier Colin Barnett, who declared earlier this week that Wilders was not welcome in his state.
Mr Barnett took some credit for Wilders being left without a stage to deliver his stump speech warning about the threat of Islam to free speech and democratic traditions…’
“Credit” eh..for stifling free speech and not issuing a single statement critical of islamists in Australia who call Jews pigs and apes and call for the destruction of our society. You’re a fucking coward, Barnett.

    They’re almost all fucking cowards.

    (Cori Bernadi excepted.)

I’m getting more pissed off with these fucking traitors and cowards posing as our political leaders in the west as every day passes.

  2. Cadwallader says:

…would he get to speak in NZ? I doubt it given the opprobrium heaped on Prosser recently.

  3. Rob says:

It is sickening that the “Abbott Abbott Abbott” is too arrogant, ignorant and pollitically correct to support the protection of Australia from the very real threat that Islam represrents.

    • KG says:

Tony Abbott is neither ignorant nor arrogant.
Have you criticised Gillard and Roxon in the same terms?

  4. Fairfacts Media says:

Gates of Vienna published Mr Wilders’ speech in full.
    http://gatesofvienna.net/2013/02/geert-wilders-in-melbourne/
Andrew Bolt has again been explaining the free speech issue fairly.
It is a pity Mr Wilders isn’t coming to New Zealand.
I would love to hear him.
I bet he would throw a few cats among the pigeons.

    • KG says:

He sure would, Fairfacts. The NZ media would go into meltdown. And spin and lie about what he has to say.

  5. Findalis says:

Free Speech is not free. It comes with a high price. That price is the blood and lives of the men who fought in wars for that freedom.

Limiting or curtailing speech spits on their sacrifice.

  6. KG says:

    Too right.

  7. fish153 says:

Show me one islamic country that allows free speech or tolerates people of other persuasions. Try importing a Bible into Saudi Arabia or building a church there….
So much for giving Wilders a fair go. :???:

  8. KG says:

The lefty PC crowd are terrified of free speech. Not one of their sacred cows could withstand honest, open debate.
This is the soft tyranny that’s necessary before introducing the jackboot.

  9. Carole says:

Have sent an email to the FOOL Barnett telling him what I think of his comments,
    treasonous b…..d.

  10. thor42 says:

I agree with the comments here. Wilders is a *true Western patriot* who is warning of the very real dangers of Islam.

Australia should be ASHAMED that it has passed those *ridiculous and dangerous* “hate speech” laws. Those laws are only EVER used to silence VALID criticism – usually of Islam.
I don’t think you will *ever* see a Muslim in Australia hauled up before the court because of this law.

Never mind that so-called “offensive speech” can be PROVED to be *100% TRUE*. Truth now takes second place to “oh, someone may be offended – you can’t say that…..”

Freedom of speech *MUST always* include having the freedom to say things that some people *may* be offended by. TOUGH.
The ONLY “court” that should “judge” “offensive speech” is the “court of public opinion!”

  11. thor42 says:

Here is the email I sent to Mr Barnett –

    Dear Minister –
I was very disappointed to see your comment that “Geert Wilders is not welcome in my state.”

Mr Wilders is telling the *truth*, Minister. That truth may well be unpleasant for some to hear, but it needs to be told.

Geert Wilders is saying EXACTLY the same thing that *apostates from Islam* say, Minister.
    Are THEY “not welcome” either?

Here – I can prove that I tell the truth –
    http://www.apostatesofislam.com/

Quote – “…far from being a religion of truth, Islam is a hoax, it is hallucination of a sick mind and nothing but lies and deceits.”

If you do not believe Mr Wilders, Minister, believe THEM. They say exactly the same thing.

There must ALSO be the freedom of speech for the truth to be told (and Australia, with your ridiculous “hate speech” laws, has put that in **grave danger**.)

You may not be familiar with the story of an old woman called Umm Qirfa. She was brutally killed when Mohammad and his followers raided her tribe and overpowered them.
How was she killed? She was tied to two camels and *ripped in two*.

Keep in mind, Minister, that Muslims view Mohammad as the **perfect role model** for all time. The perfect person to be emulated.

THAT is what Mr Wilders is talking about, Minister.

Here is an account of Umm Qirfa and her fate –
    http://wikiislam.net/wiki/The_Story_of_Umm_Qirfa

I could go on in much more detail in proving that Mr Wilders is telling the truth, but I will leave it there.

I do, however, want to comment on Australia’s abysmal “hate speech” laws. These laws (as seen overseas) will only *EVER* be used to silence people like Mr Wilders. People who are telling the unpleasant *TRUTH*.

Thousands of Australians died to protect freedom (including freedom of speech), and *every one* of them would be horrified to see that freedom being curtailed by these laws, Minister.

Freedom of speech MUST ALWAYS mean the freedom to say things that some people may be “offended” by. So what, Minister?

**The truth is the truth**, however unpleasant some people may find it! Truth must *NEVER* be trumped by “oh, you can’t say that – I find it offensive…”

The truth may WELL hurt, but it is the truth nonetheless.

The ONLY “court” that should rule on so-called “offensive speech” is the “court” of *public opinion.* Individuals *already* have the laws of slander and libel to protect them.

Those laws are the worst (and most dangerous) laws to have been passed in Australia in the last 50 years. They MUST be repealed, because if people are unable to openly criticise (say) Islam, then a VITAL “safety-valve” is removed.

Ignored and disenfranchised, the only thing they have left is to take to the streets. That should be *obvious* to all.

    – Many thanks for your time.
    – Andy

  12. KG says:

    Damn fine letter, Andy.
And I’d point out that what caused Breivik to go on his rampage was the adamant refusal of the political establishment to allow the voices of those who were against muslim immigration–and the resulting violence against Norwegians–to be heard.
Either we are free to speak, or people will act.

    • thor42 says:

Thanks, KG, and yep – spot-on.
I think I made a bloody good point when I said that Wilders is saying the same thing as the apostates say (and that is indeed the case. If anything, the apostates are MUCH harsher in their description of Islam.)

I find the situation in Sweden to be despicable. The main parties in parliament there refuse to work with the anti-immigration Swedish Democrats (who are on 10% in the polls now and repidly rising).

The leaders of countries in Europe are setting the place up for a massive pan-country civil war, and it is ALL **so avoidable.** Having said that, it may be a case of short-term pain for long-term gain (ridding the place of Islam).

Step 1 – Pass laws defining Islam as an “ideology of hate” (which is exactly what it is).
Step 2 – Ban immigrants who believe in “ideologies of hate”. Demolish buildings devoted to said ideologies (mosques).
Step 3 – Give Muslims already in the country *very generous* payments to leave.

  13. Rob says:

The author of the web page “HEAVYCALIBRE” is much better at vituperation than I am and therefore better qualified to describe Dullard and the Greens. The fact that Abbott appears unaware of the threat Islam represents indicates that, on this issue, he may be said to be ignorant. His remarks about “using an Australian accent” to deal with these monsters rather than listen to Geert Wilders smacks of arrogance. The choice facing Australian voters is for ever trying to find the “best of a bad bunch. (the LNP) rather than “the right man (Abbott)”.

  14. KG says:

“The choice facing Australian voters is for ever trying to find the “best of a bad bunch.”
That’s the choice of voters everywhere, Rob and damned if I know the answer to that.

  15. mistress mara says:

The choice facing voters is between bollocks and bullshit . So say old people who have life experience and are therefore too old to be relevant. Give it up KG; reality is too hard on the health.

  16. KG says:

Giving up is not in me, Mara. I fight and bitch because that’s what I do. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_smile.gif
