   When I went to high school in the early to mid 1960s – “Animal Farm” and “1984” by George Orwell were required reading in British Literature.

   Also, there was a required course entitled “Americanism” that told the truth about the slavery of fascism, socialism and communism – in contrast to freedom in America.

   In American Civics we students studied the U.S. Constitution – this was another required course needed for graduation.

   I wonder if any of these courses are taught today in government run American high schools? Maybe in church and private H.S. -Maybe.
