‘1000 police in weekend booze bust

A 12-hour police operation targeting alcohol-related crime this weekend resulted in less than one percent of drivers stopped at checkpoints being over the limit, although the number of retailers selling alcohol to minors was a disappointment, say police.
The trans-Tasman campaign, named Operation Unite, ran from 6pm on Friday to 6am Saturday. More than 1000 police officers and 200 staff from partner agencies such as health, ACC, councils and Maori Wardens took part nationwide.

Despite the positive figures more work still needed to be done to combat New Zealand’s drinking culture, Mr Van der Velde said…’                              source

Yes indeed! More work! More wankers who pretend to know better than us what’s good for us. More bullshit make-busy tripe at our expense by a bunch of self-appointed moral guardians.
Who would be much better employed getting out there and catching some of the burglars and rapists and thugs who terrorise some areas of NZ almost with impunity.
