    yes, I will take a punt here, and write without word talk.
    Democracy as far as I can see it, is about allowing the people’s opinion to lead the State
    of we people. We can elect but afterwards it mean nothing. they can say you gave us and we have mandate.
    Always you give a person power over you and that person will look for more power without you. If you bow down to this person, and accept then worse will come.
    I learned much of this in Thailand where they believe that voting is democracy and then the leading group may do what they like. Simple brains we think.
    In my opinion I live in a democracy where my opinion and wish exists after the election still

    I agree that democracy is lousy.

    I prefer something like a taxpayer-ocracy – only those who are net taxpayers (or war veterans) get to vote. Ok, there may be some argument on “what about disabled people” but at least the system would be *miles* better than what we have now.

      I prefer the Starship Troopers model myself.

      You don’t typically vote to leech from something you’ve trained and possibly fought to defend.

    That is why the US Founders est. a new REPUBLIC- they knew “democracy” could be bought and sold–to the highest bidder!
