Midwives….is there a pattern here?

Deaths of 30 Babies and Mothers ‘Caused by Turf War Between Medical Staff’ at NHS Hospital
The report into the investigation, which is yet to be released, is expected to show that vulnerable mothers and babies were put at risk by midwives who were not on speaking terms with doctors at the hospital. Midwives who gave evidence said that, if they called a doctor in to help with a difficult labour, they were pushed aside and made to feel irrelevant…’
One would think that – at that point – they probably were irrelevant. It does sound as though their little pouty self-important feminist hissy fits came at the patients’ expense, to put it mildly.

      That’s a bad thing?

Start making a list of people to visit when the s hits the f. At very least you can give the list to anyone who comes knocking at your door for supplies.

CCS – Oxfam have recently released their figures and it’ a currently 48% of the world’s wealth that is owned by the richest 1%. As far as NZ being a bolt hole for the rich, it has been happening for years – the Russians and their ill gotten wealth, the Chinese who are expecting their government to crack down on them and the Hollywood lefties who are demanding higher taxes for everybody else.

Oops. Here’s a can of worms.

Midwives are known as being one of the most obnoxious, self-important assholes in the medical profession. Worse by far than doctors.

Call one of them a nurse? Perish the thought!

I was doing the rounds one night and decided to liven things up. Three ancient, dumpy midwives were sitting at the nurses station in the natal ward so naturally I asked them “out of curiousity, are your sitting at a nurse’s station or a midwives station?”

You’d think I’d just slapped the pope’s hat off his head the way they looked at me.

      I’d add useless and misleading…….

Midwives are pretty thin on the ground in America, but I have a feeling that with the Obamacare caused doctor shortage, we’ll be seeing more of them as socialized medicine gets its hooks into the formerly land of the free.

A person of my acquaintance used to have to frequently leave her post in the Emergency Department and go to the Maternity Unit to perform a basic nursing task for the midwives there – inserting a cannula.
Hell, I learned to do that in the Army as a young man!
My interactions with that bunch of arrogant, abrasive frumpies showed they were all attitude and little commonsense. They could turn the most unexceptional task or conversation into an ideological battle, which they never won since their mouths were always ahead of their frontal lobes.

Incorrect. They were right and you were wrong because…

      well…

because they’re midwives and you’re not.

Wombat you obviously have not met many breast feeding nazis educators. They take it to another level…..

My friend works in a department that has an ancillary role in maternity care. He tells me that they have to have breast feeding education as mandated by the MOH. After having endured one such round of teaching by someone so dumb it is barely believable he decided that the next time it was required that he would do it himself, after all it is just a bit of WHO indoctrination easily downloaded from the net. This of course raised the hackles of the “educators” to some extent. He arranged to do the necessary teaching over a departmental meal at a restaurant. This resulted in the whole department getting their “certification” while those departments more directly involved all failed. To his absolute chagrin  he was subsequently awarded a certificate for his contribution to breast feeding education. He tells me that the certificate was used one night when the usual toilet tissue had run out. ;-)

The depressing truth about our society is encapsulated in that story.

If folks like us decided to drop our morals, get in the gutter and play these morons at their own game we’d have them in shackles by next week, and they’d be singing our praises all the same.

That’s not us though. I’m commander in chief of two retards already. Labrador/retrievers to be precise, and though they’re provably smarter than most public servants, I’m not interested in expanding my staff.

My personal experience with them at a matenity hopsital was less then wonderful. One kept compaining that her back was hurting her, another told me I didn’t have a clue about to how birth my first child. Well excuse me, another one complained at having to clean up my new born baby. What a great bunch!! Give me a doctor anyday of the week!!http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cry.gif

You are correct about this KG. I could write a book about it. I still might.

  7. Mathew says:

Much of the western world has lived so long in comfort and largely free of deadly diseases and the ability to have most things fixed up or managed to a large extent. This has led to complacency and also a bit of contempt towards the medical field, big pharma and their lackeys the doctors are often viewed as the evil other.

Now we want to go all natural and organic and all sorts of wonderful stuff filled with fantasies of talking to trees and running in fields of flowers before falling down to make love or some wild sh!t like that.

Not many these days remember the good old days of polio, various deadly poxes, plagues and things like that anymore. They’re all out there just itching to welcome us back into mother natures bosom.

Now I’m not saying that midwives are crap or anything, I’m pretty sure we’ve come across a few of them and they seemed nice or alright, however one thing i figured out with the birth of our first child is that here in the western world, there are vast numbers of medical professionals who turn up at work every day to keep you alive, to give your baby the best chance at living.

So don’t be a dumbass and tell an experienced doctor to shove off cos you got it covered. When it’s not going according to the dream, swallow your pride and call the doctor who wants to help you and your baby.
