Before the West went collectively bananas:

When kids could learn from play and curiosity. Before the safety nazis. Before the State owned your children.  Before leftist academics with no skills whatsoever knew better than you how to raise your children.

 Yes. Also at every intersection with curbs – these curbs must be torn out and replaced with handicapped access no barrier curbs, right? So a handicapped person in a wheelchair may arrive safely from one side of a six lane intersection to the other. Or in a residential neighborhood roll across at any intersection. Plus 2 or 3 speed bumps on every single block.

Next will be speed bumps on Interstate highways for deer crossings.

So me showing a ten year old how to blow up a Barbie doll with black powder wouldn’t make the approved list?

Senor Bastable, While your comment seems logical, it is not. Such as: is the black powder that which is used to make blackface OR is it Barbie’s eye shadow? All in all, it seems Racist if not Sexist. Yours very trulililily, HarvardPotatoHead

The same blackpowder used for shooting goddamn Yankees!

There used to be the Lejay manuals and Popular Mechanic’s Boy Mechanic series.

The Lejay manuals started back in the 1920’s irrc.Having seen some of the projects in them I can say many of them would be difficult for adult mechanics today, let alone kids.
The one volume I flipped through had chapters on making your own electro-plating bath, including where to get the sodium cyanide. How to rewind a Ford automobile generator for use as a motor. How to build your own spot welder, wood lathe, drill press .How to build your own acetylene generator which you would need for your homemade air/acetylene glass working torch which you would need for turning glass bottles into your own glass labware.

People shudder and shock at what kids were doing back then, but there is no denying it produced generations of doers who could think.

Careful, not so loud. You’ll frighten the politicians.
