Open House

This is simply brilliant, as you’d expect from Mark Steyn
and:
‘If as many women killed themselves as men, we’d never hear the end of it’

  1. Michael in Nelson says:

And God help any man who dared to suggest the higher suicide rate among men is in any way related to the continuing feminist attack on masculinity.

    • andy5759 says:

Yup. The amazing attacks on men, the fashionable homosexuality, jobs requiring less brawn, artificial insemination, anything else you care to add. Fuck me, even sodding climate change could be blamed.

      • Wombat says:

I suspect that men do themselves in when they feel their usefulness has run out or they can no longer take care of their basic needs such as wiping their own ass.

They also reach that critical point faster due to the heavy physical work they do when compared to women.

Every nursing home I’ve visited was chock full of old women and barely a man to be seen.

Men are not genetically accustomed to being a burden. Consider that this statistic doesn’t include suicides where some old guy, for example, crosses the white lines in his Landcruiser and paints himself on the front of a truck or has a “hunting accident”.

The real number of suicides for men is much, much higher.

  2. Darin says:

I would say from experience that in the US the top two reasons for male suicide are rotten divorces and health issues.
The first group we are all familiar with and there are groups working to fight the system, the second group have no voice whatsoever.
In the US by and large if you are male, single and have no dependants if you get sick, you had better have good insurance, otherwise unless charity steps in you are dead, even if it’s treatable.
Our welfare taxation system means you have %15 of your gross income taken from you your entire working life.Your taxes go to support everybody and their mother, but if you should fall sick and cannot work or don’t have insurance lacking any charity you die, simple as that. When you need help,it’s not there,I have had several friends who commited suicide because they could not get treatment for even curable illnesses.
One couldn’t get surgery when his lung cancer was a simple small spot on his lung,he died from a self inflicted gunshot two years later when he couldn’t stand the pain any longer,he was 48.
Another’s prostrate cancer spread to his bones,no treatment,no pain meds he stepped in front of a train at age 64 while he was still able to walk.

I call it the Santa Claus syndrome, everybody loves you so long as you give them what they want, but as soon as you can no longer give you become a myth.

    • mawm says:

If I had prostate cancer with bone secondaries I think that I too would ‘step in front of a train’. It can be very painful and all that health insurance would give you are strong pain killers to turn you into a sedated zombie.

      • Darin says:

Most definitely Mawm, but treatment early on when he was first diagnosed might have saved his life.

If nothing else give the poor bastard enough pain meds to off himself in one piece instead of splat!

  3. Darin says:

As for the Keystone XL,we have in the last few weeks had another one of Warren Buffet’s oil trains explode.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/02/17/trains-are-carrying-and-spilling-a-record-amount-of-oil/

But never fear,I’m sure trains loaded with crude, derailing, catching fire, and dumping oil into rivers is much better for the environment than a pipeline would be

  4. Contempt says:

 Why are they worried about funding or defunding the Dept of Homeland Security? Have they controlled the border lately? Nah. Will they control us? Yes.

    Darin:

What a waste that your friend at age 64 stepped in front of a train when he had incurable cancer and not long to live :!:

A guy I know well says that when the doctor tells him, he has drawn the incurable Death Card of cancer out of the deck of life that he planned to go the “Jack Ruby Route.”

You do know the J.R.R. way of dealing with inoperable cancer :?:

    Memory Jog:

Jack Ruby was the Dallas nightclub owner who was diagnosed with incurable cancer and decided to assassinate the communist assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, who had most foully murdered Ruby’s Main Man, John F. Kennedy. Mission Accomplished :!: Ruby died two later years of…drum roll…INCURABLE Cancer. He didn’t even have to walk the last 13 steps, but died with a smile on his face at the same hospital as his hero JFK. Different room; however…

The J.R.R. Route, or my plane is on fire and I’m going to crash and die, so I may as well dive into that there Jap Carrier what shot me down.

    1. Buy a gun.

    2. Find the name and location of an important local commie who needs termination with extreme prejudice.

    3. Bonus points if you do the deed in front of television cameras. Yell something like “SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS :!: ” as the gun is fired.

    4. Yes, you get busted or maybe killed, but what the hell :?: You’re gonna die anyway in a few months.

    5. But if you get busted, the State is required to provide medical care – and lots free pain killers…Oh :!: No worry about the bills :!: And good lawyers will volunteer to represent you PRO BONO :!:

    WIN-WIN :!:

Do it for Old Glory – the red, white and blue :!: http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_good.gif

  6. Ronbo says:

…for those of you who think my comments on the looming censorship of the Free Internet are too overblown and alarmist should consider this fact: Communist China has already developed the software to make this possible:

    http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0922/p01s02-woap.html

…and do you think those three Progressives running the show at the FCC haven’t spent the last six years fine tuning this coup :?:

  7. Darin says:

Why construction insurance is a good idea

  8. KG says:

    From Fox:
‘THREE NEW YORK CITY RESIDENTS are charged with plotting to travel to Syria to join ISIS militants and ‘wage jihad’ — with one of the defendants allegedly offering to kill the president of the United States if ordered do so.’
Well, his heart’s in the right place… http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_mail.gif

  9. andy5759 says:

My above comments were posted from a nice little boozer in town. A poncey band struck up. Poncey tarts pitched up. They put pressure on my occupancy of a table with four seats. I let them know that this table is mine. “You never know” I said, “some nice girls might wish to join me.”. That staggered ’em. I tore the arse out of me last pint before getting the f outta there to look for a proper boozer. Nice ‘ere innitt? Fink I’ll wait till tomorrow before considering suicide. Probably. Nah, only joking, serious.

    • Ronbo says:

      Translation into American English.

“nice little boozer” = a nice bar.

“A poncey band” = homosexual band.

“Poncey tarts” = Lesbian whores :?:

“that staggered ’em” = My words shocked them.

“I tore the arse out of me last pint” = I gulped down my last beer in a hurry.

“…before getting the f outta there to look for a proper boozer” = I got out there in a hurry to look for a better bar.

      “Fink” =Think.

andy5759 – I see strong indications here that you may be English. I know this because the English and American are one people separated by a common language. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

    Still pimping climate hype-

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2968987/Scientists-witness-carbon-dioxide-trapping-heat-air.html

“Both series showed the same trend: atmospheric CO2 emitted an increasing amount of infrared energy, to the tune of 0.2 Watts per square meter per decade. This increase is about ten percent of the trend from all sources of infrared energy such as clouds and water vapor.

So color me impressed, someone pissed in the ocean and they were able to measure the sealevel rise

Now compare that to Solar input which is 100 watts, per square meter per day

    • KG says:

These bastards should become used-car salesmen.
Maybe not….they’d bring the occupation into even more disrepute.

More from the Pedoparty-‘Senior State Department official arrested for soliciting sex from a minor’

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/02/25/senior-state-dept-official-arrested-for-allegedly-soliciting-sex-from-minor/

The only real surprise here is that he was chatting up a female.
