   The battle is, and ever will be, one of the freedom to choose.

   And what the ramped up propaganda from both sides of the fence obscures is exactly that fact.

   It’s the same tired old bullshit. The same climate science argument rehashed and repacked. “If the science is right then you have no right to refuse the authoritarian solution”.

   Fuck the authoritarians. Everyone who supports mandatory vaccination, backed by the usual government gun to the head, goes on my list for my final solution to collectivism.

   Agreed, Wombat. Coercion is what you resort to when you have lost the argument. What is needed is a sustained campaign against the hysterical disinformation perpetrated by anti-vaxers. A campaign along the lines of “show us your evidence, mate” with special emphasis on recent evidence rather than the speculative 1975 articles usually cited.

   In fairness to doctors who campaign for the authoritarian route, vaccination is the ONLY effective treatment for viral illness. It is totally frustrating to see kids suffering from completely preventable illness that you are powerless to treat. And even more frustrating when you realise that they are suffering because some hysterical fool with internet access has goaded the parents into making an “informed decision” (code word for “googled”) to leave their children vulnerable for no reason whatsoever.

       That’s the first question I ask when people are reacting to some new”threat”.

       Show me the bodies.

       The one I really got a laugh out of was the Coca Cola scare.To hear it told it was worse than Aqua Regia and drinking a single 12 oz bottle would result in taking years off one’s life

       My answer to that was to warn them about drinking water,yes because every person who has ever drank it has died

   I’m one of those evil parents who did not bow to the demand to vaccinate. On both sides of the family, we have a history of adverse reactions to vaccinations, and on considering the information from both sides ( after discarding the hysteria), chose not to vaccinate at infancy.

   As an aside, we have a severely autistic child. He was NOT vaccinated.

     There’s nothing evil about not bowing to demands if the evidence in your case indicates you shouldn’t, Oswald.
     I’m in favour of vaccination in broad terms, but also, it may not be wise in some cases as far as I know. There’s no “blanket” solution and governments should not be trying to impose one.

     Without it my son would be dead or have serious brain damage, I was born blue strangled by the umbilical cord. So……
     I would also lower the max speed to 20 km/hour and mandatory helmet the moment you get out of bed.
