And the funniest headline of the week:  ‘UK could launch Isil air strikes within months’
Obviously, they’re on red-alert status. Otherwise Cameron would have promised airstrikes by 2017.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the SAS may be inserted into the region before Christmas. As with all slow burning conflicts there is a time when the fuse burns low. We are nearing that time. Anglosphere heads of state may not wait for Baz O’Barmy to bugger off before wading in on their own. About bloody time (pun fully intended).

My guess is they started up the planes having never changed a tank of fuel since the second iraq war.
Now the fuel lines are gummed up and they’ve got to do a complete overhaul of the entire fleet. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_scratch.gif

I listened to a hack-segment on NPR the other day where they were bitching about the Confederate flag and I was struck by a bolt of the bleeding obvious.

This manufactured issue about the confederate flag and racism is entirely fabricated in order to smear current-day secessionists without ever having to mention the modern secession movement (and theredby give it media oxygen).

Pretty brilliant strategy, really. We’ve all wondered why the Republicans have sat back and said nothing about Democrats frothing at the mouth over the flag the Democrats themselves used to rally under, right? It would seem like a no-brainer to stick that fact to them. But the Republicans are federalists, and they hate secessionists more than they hate Democrats. Without the federation there’s no congress, and without congress there’s no endless stream of bribery and power.

The Confederate flag issue is Republicans AND Democrats working together secretly to hamstring modern secessionists. Racism is only the cover.

Yup. The U.S. elite and their media toads are masters of indirection or trivialization. Precious air time is devoted to escaped convicts and white perfidy but meanwhile the sewer runs down the middle of the aisle. Mustn’t notice.

The BBC does not use the word ‘terrorists’ to describe murdering Islamist fanatics
Its guidelines advise avoiding the word ‘terrorism’ because it is ‘a difficult and emotive subject with significant political overtones’
In the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris, Tarik Kafala, head of BBC Arabic, said ‘terrorist’ was too ‘loaded’ and ‘value laden’

I just sat and watched suffered through a documentary from ITV about the 7/7 muslim terrorist attacks on London. Now, it was a documentary focused on the survivors rather than the perpetrators so I didn’t expect it to be a bloodthirsty cry for vengeance and justice, however … the word “moslem” and the word “iSlam” were each uttered precisely ONE time during the whole programme. Each was uttered by “Sajda” … a muslima who happened to be on one of the trains at the time, who escaped completely unscathed and ran out of the station, across the road to the nearest McDonalds, whereupon she elected to do everything she could to provide aid and comfort to the victims cower in the ladies’ rest room, and whose only purpose (as far as I could tell) for even being a part of the programme was the “see, we moslems are victims too” dog-whistle.

The power of denial is strong in what was once the centre of the most feared empire in the history of the world.

    Wombat:

As a former American history teacher I can tell you without fear of contradiction that the Confederates had the right idea about the U.S. Constitution – that the central government had only a few duties and most governmental power belonged to the various states – and that the Republicans created the Progressive movement under Teddy Roosevelt in the early 1900s.

Lincoln saved the Union, but at the cost of creating The Big Federal Government that has grown bigger and more oppressive with every passing year since 1861.

Thus the disagreement between Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson finally ends in Hamiltonian victory – the president is the monarch of a highly centralized European style empire.

The question is without glue of the U.S. Constitution to hold the country together can such a nation survive?

    • Wombat says:

      “…can such a nation survive.”

“Should” is the more pertinent question. It’s quite clear that the East/West coastal regions are utterly incompatible with the landlocked states in between.

The union can only stand by one oppressing the other, and that too will fail. The end of the USA is sadly now an inevitability. Many would argue it died long ago in all but name.

but I seem to be short of a few of the card images due to link rot at imageshack.

    Does anyone have the original card images for 2, 4, 7, 8 & 9?

I’d appreciate a link if they are still around. Thanks.

    • KG says:

Sorry Yokel, I can’t help but we could put something up as a post if you think that would help?

      • Yokel says:

Thanks KG. It might help uncover the old images, or maybe provoke someone to design a whole new set. If the latter, then it could allow for the divergence of European and American Rules of the game. Isn’t diversity such a good idea, even in something as complex as Victimhood Poker? I hesitate to say Australian Rules because that will probably mean something entirely different!
