But..I said so at the time of his unusually rapid election to the papacy after the odd “resignation” of his predecessor. The current Pope is a socialist political plant, deserving of nothing but derision and contempt.

I recall when the previous Pope ascended the Papal Crown there were jibes from the left that he was an ex-Nazi or that he was “Hitler’s Pope!” The current Pope would appear to be “Marx’s Pope” who has arisen from a comfortable life in Argentina to pursue socialist goals…just like Che Guevara.
Yep.
From the conclusion of http://www.christendom-awake.org/pages/ratzinger/liberationtheol.htm by the former Pope Benedict from 0ver 20 years before he was pope.
In trying to arrive at an overall evaluation it must be said that, if one accepts the fundamental assumptions which underlie liberation theology, it cannot be denied that the whole edifice has an almost irresistible logic. [almost is a nice touch]
By adopting the position of biblical criticism and of a hermeneutics that grows through experience, on the one hand, and of the marxist analysis of history, on the other, liberation theologians have succeeded in creating a total picture of the Christian reality, and this total view seems to respond fully both to the claims of science and to the moral challenges of our time, urging people to make Christianity an instrument of concrete world transformation; it seems to have united Christianity, in this way, with all the “progressive forces” of our era.
[Nice touch using quotes to identify the earthly powers. Is it their overwhelming forces or the nature of their progressiveness that is in doubt?]
One can understand, therefore, that this new interpretation of Christianity should have exercised an increasing fascination over theologians, priests and religious, particularly against the background of Third World problems. To say “no” to it must seem to them to be a flight from reality as well as a denial of reason and morality.
[the seeming denial of reason to SJWs is the “morality” to which he appears to refer. That is because Justice will see that social justice and it are not compatible. And as to which is lacking, er, something, it doesn’t take a rocket science to see which of the two is subservient.]
On the other hand, if one considers how radical this reinterpretation of Christianity is, it is all the more pressing to find the right answer to the challenge which it presents.
[Can we see in this why Benedict stepped down?]
We shall only survive this crisis if we succeed in making the logic of faith visible in an equally compelling manner and in presenting it as a logic of reality, i.e., manifesting the concrete force of a better answer attested in lived experience.
[Letting Bergoglio and his ilk fail might attest to this. But at what cost? Did the peoples who suffered Soviet rule need to suffer so we’d know the outcome? If they did, the proponents of communism’s rebirth such as Francis and Xero and Hollande and the EU (and Key and Turnbull) show no signs of caring. Hence the negative population forces appear to be on the rise and totalitarian rule is their proven technique?]
Since it is so, since thought and experience, interpretation and realization, are equally called for, it is a task for the whole Church. [That means laymen in particular!]
Theology alone is insufficient, Church authority alone is insufficient. [Ibid.]
Since the phenomenon of liberation theology indicates a lack of conversion in the Church, a lack of radical faith, only an increase in conversion and faith can arouse and elicit those theological insights and those decisions on the part of the shepherds which will give an answer to the magnitude of the question. [Give an answer laymen!]
———-
In the above Ratzinger juxtaposed radical reinterpretation of Christianity with radical faith in the original way back in 1984 (no Orwell pun intended).
As I wrote in my warning in 2006 along a similar vein, these two views are incompatible. Currently one is actively at war with the other even if most laymen have not awoken to it yet.
“Currently one is actively at war with the other even if most laymen have not awoken to it yet.”
Yes indeed.
From 1944 through 1989 at least the RCC in Latin America was the target of the Communists. In rural Latin America the village church and priests were the sole educators of the young and the Communists did all they could to infiltrate them and they had much success. They won the hearts and minds of the children and their children’s children.
The RCC badly needs another Reformation!
