Since the holiday was just yesterday let’s take a refresher on who the Pilgrims were and what they learned-

    • Ronbo says:

….one thing learned real quick and dirty was that socialism didn’t work.

At first all land was held in common and everything produced in the colony went into the warehouse where each pilgrim was issued one share…Sound familiar?

The problem was that some pilgrims were hard workers…and others not so ambitious…and the younger ones liked to play games rather than work…This led rather quickly to starvation because the good producers quit producing in excess for the parasites.

Thus in order to stop the looming disaster, the governor divided up the land and it was sink or swim. The majority of pilgrims decided to swim and became very successful at agricultural production….so successful they started the American tradition of Thanksgiving Day to share their bounty with friends and family…and even the Indians.

BTW, what happened to the first colonists in Massachusetts had happened earlier to the Jamestown colonists in Virginia…Starvation and dire poverty under a socialist administration – and abundance and wealth under a capitalist regime.

A lesson we apparently have to learn over and over again.

Which is a very great mystery.

        • Darin says:

Most people I am fairly certain are incapable of learning.I was reminded of that at work the other day.First good cold snap of the year and everybody comes piling in looking for pipe insulation and heaters and what not.

Winter comes every year, but nobody is ever ready for it.Same with Hurricanes, wait till the winds are blowing 90mph before trying to crank the generator that’s been sitting since the last storm five or six years ago.http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_wacko.gif

I’m hoping the new colonisers start targeting much of the journalist class, only when a stake is up their rear end will they wake up and start telling the truth. That and the fact that it’s been a long time coming for so many of these biased asses.

“I’m hoping the new colonisers start targeting much of the journalist class”
I doubt they will, Mathew, since that class is their most useful ally.

  3. Flashman says:

And didn’t welcoming all those pilgrims work out well for the resident indians?
