The only option of the Government would be order females into these units…
All men who have ever been married can tell you that a woman can’t be ordered to do anything – and they won’t volunteer for field duty because they don’t like to get dirty, sleep under the stars and maybe get killed.
What I see happening is the military following orders on female placement in frontline combat units in a half hearted manner…and then going back quietly to the standard SOP when Obama is gone.
Cruising past the front gate of a local AFB the other day I noticed one of the female guards was very pretty and very pregnant.Nothing says security like a pregnant female in digital green waddling around waving people through the front gate.

On a lesser level, I spent my working life in the Police. What was evident to me was that women police could not do all parts of the job, you were better off not sending women to gang violence or thugs rioting as it only inflamed the situation. A 9 stone or 57k, and 1.6m female is not going to get the job done and endangers male police who become protective to female counterparts. In the 1981 Springbok tour protesters always picked out the weakest part of the skirmish line, the area where women police were placed. I know because I was a supervisor at some of the worst protests and rioting. Mind you the police these days seem to be populated by pygmies compared to when I joined in the early 1960’s when the minimum height was 1.78m.
