    Lions are beautiful creatures….from a distance…A Long Distance…:-)

Ronbo, are lions more beautiful than deer or wild pigs? You can see where this is going, can’t you? Ah well, that film gave me a few fuzzies as well. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_smile.gif

Lions can be a pest and I have no problem with them being shot when they are. But keeping any wild animal in a cage and making it perform is bloody disgraceful.

    Ringling Bros Elephants retire-

“DeeAnn Reeder, an animal behaviorist at Bucknell University who has worked with elephants, said moving to a new place and developing new social groups will initially be stressful for the creatures, but the long-term benefits far outweigh any negatives.

“They’ll be able to behave like elephants instead of circus animals,” she said.”

But what if the Elephants miss performing?

    • KG says:

They can perform pretty well when left to their own devices.

True, but there have been cases where they have bonded to their handlers. There were three at the New Orleans zoo that had the same handler for 15 years or better, when the handler decided to retire, the Elephants fell into depression and stopped eating. It was thought they were mourning him being gone. The handler was called and told the situation and returned to the Zoo much to the Elephants delight. IIRC he had to keep coming back to work a couple times a week for several months before they acclimated to the new handler. Apparently he was considered family http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_smile.gif
