Are Electric Cars Really Green?

When you see somebody driving a Prius or Nissan Leaf, you’re looking at a virtue-signalling idiot.

Update
Speaking of idiots (or corruption), we now have this:
‘The future’s electric
The Government wants to have 64,000 electric vehicles on New Zealand’s roads by 2021.’

Good bloke, a practical conservationist rather than a zealot.

    Hell, no!

The car has to be recharged daily and where does the electric come from…Hmmm?

The dirty, stinking coal fired power plant down the road that Hillary wants to shutdown.

Buy electric ……….. while the proles are still paying for your daily charge at public stations. Beats the price of petrol. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

    OTOH and off topic.
#@$#’ing MB in Newmarket. They failed my WOF for having minimum tread on front tyres of 1.7 and 1.9mm when only 1.5 required….. and then want to charge an extortionate amount to supply and fit new ones. Last time it was a battery replacement (huge labour cost to remove front seat to get there) “because it is 6 years old and most likely causing slow starting”. Today the slow starting found to be the glow plug relay unit. ‘Nother huge cost including “diagnostic testing” charge a second time.

They have just lost a client and all my friends and colleagues will be encouraged not to go the same route. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_bye.gif

Damn right. It’s simply a more elaborate theft than an armed robber walking into a bank.
But the vast majority of owners would fall for it.

The other luxury German marque lost me forever when they blatantly lied to me – charged me for hygrometer testing of radiator water density so that they knew exactly how much anti freeze to put in when they topped it up……. and at the same time charged for a radiator flush and all the propriety chemicals used to do so. When challenged they unabashedly said that obviously I couldn’t afford to run a car like theirs. It was probably the worst car I have owned anyway and I will never own another. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cry.gif

The obvious retort is that nobody could afford to run a car like theirs when thieves are in charge of the dealership.
          Bastards.
With the Benzes we’ve owned we have almost always been lucky enough to find ex-MB mechanics who do the work for a fraction of the price and who are also honest.
(but then, the older cars don’t need elaborate diagnostic equipment).

All dealerships are just a massive rip off!
Electronic diagnostic equipment is everywhere since the big boys have had to make their codes public. There’s a guy up the road at the old McLaren garage who is honest and good.
