So what now?

Now that the Republican held congress has failed to do anything regarding the repeal of Obamacare, where do we go from here?

The bill from the start was a disaster,Obamacare lite was all it was and those that authored and pushed it I believe knew it would fail-I’m looking at you Paul Ryan. The house passed repeal umpteen zillion times before we gave you control of the house and senate and now you couldn’t pull it off you useless husk?Really?

Do we now wait and hope Obamacare disintegrates on it’s own, which unfortunately means more people will lose coverage, the economy will remain stagnate and small businesses will continue to fail? Will we stick with doing nothing and lose control of the Senate in 2018?Is that the plan Rinos?

It sure looks like it from out here in the cheap seats. And what will tax reform look like now that your sabotage has emboldened the dems?Think that one is going anywhere?I don’t think so,because we have without a doubt the laziest congress in decades, possibly ever.

It used to be there were only two things certain in life-death and taxes, now we can add a third -A Republican congress will always squander opportunity.

  2. Ronbo says:

Paul Ryan is only part of the problem – the RINOs control Congress and they are happy with Obamacare because it favors Big Government; however, Obamacare is going belly up without new money being pumped into the rotting corpse to revive it, the thing stays on the floor, and the medical coverage situation returns to pre-2010.

  3. Pascal says:

Wherever rulers foster Malthusian, Utilitarian, Green and Islamistophilic nutcases, there the ruled are at grave risk.

For instance, a utilitarian nutcase sees the majority of humanity useful only as a source of spare parts.

Once you recognize this risk, then what’s been done to American healthcare in the first place ought be seen as no mere coincidence.

And now you have a clearer view into how dark the souls of the GOPe really are. In 2009 the GOP let down on its use of the filibuster to block 0care. And this go around, after 70 odd times of putting a rescind bill on the desk of Zero, the GOPe switched gears and sought to put a perfumed pig 0care lite on DJT’s desk.

And now the GOPe (the very same who consistently use the phrase the religion of peace) wants to place to blame for the defeat of “DJTcare” at the door of the Liberty Caucus? Sure — as a preemptive strike against themselves being held to account for lying to the voters on their intentions. They must think that all voters are even more stupid than are Democrat ones.

As to what now Darin? Maybe I’ll let you know my thoughts when my blood pressure subsides a bit.

  4. Pascal says:

Well, now that I have gotten the view through my universal filter out in pixels (again), let me commend you Darin for a good thread starter all by itself. The lack of providing DJT with items for him to sign is one terrific point that the SSM and related outlets have mostly ignored.

And let me show you something http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/03/26/gop-doing-well-state-level-glenn-reynolds-column/99664022/

You were ahead of Glenn Reynolds in pointing out the colossal GOP failures not just on health. But he has one question that captures the missing matters perfectly.
‘Why aren’t bills on infrastructure, tax reform and free speech lined up like airplanes on a runway?’

    • Darin says:

Because the republicans at the end of the day do the bidding of their masters and they are not we.They are perfectly happy with the status quo, especially senate republicans. They are the whores of wall street and the global elite and all we did in the last election is hand control over to another version of the same evil.

Yup. I have used that line all too often because how many times it’s applicable. How many times have I felt the need to refer to the uniparty?

Left or Right or centrist, they all make promises. But in the end all uniparty members are Government Increasing Lying A-holes. GILA monsters if you like. Just like that slow-moving reptile, their venom saps the central nervous system of all their victims, the weaker their victims the more deadly the bite. And this applies to their kind world-wide.

But unlike their namesake, which is a brilliant yellow and black as a warning to potential victims,

our GILA monsters are a nebbishy-gray on the outside but yellow inside all the way to their black hearts.

  5. Ronbo says:

Maybe we should just appoint Trump “The CEO For Life” and have him run the country just like his corporation?

Perhaps it’s better to be ruled by one patriotic strongman that a city of weakling traitors called the U.S. Congress?

    • Pascal says:

As you know, this would be fine with the Progs from the start. The whole idea of the constitutional republic, a nation of laws and not men, was to avoid the vagueries of relying on a series of “good” men to rule. Paraphrasing the Bard, the problem dear Ron in not in the baton we were handed, but in ourselves. Rope was never used where it was needed most.

      • Darin says:

The only way we will ever be rid of these bastards and the whole rotten corrupt system is if there is a brilliant white flash of light over DC one fine day when both houses are in session.Let’s see the filthy, corrupt bastards lie and cheat their way out of that one

        • Pascal says:

That reminds me of the 10th plague. Given what I wrote above about most of us being at grave risk, perhaps the Angel of Death will visit those who harbor that ending for the rest of us. That would serve justice and His higher purpose.

      • Ronbo says:

“Ourselves?” I think not. I don’t remember voting for an oligarchy of Congressional Republicans and Democrats to be my ruling class. Do you?

So in effect, Pascal – we have the tyranny of the few – the republic is dead. I say a nationalist president loyal to his base who has his shit together is much better than rule by an oligarchy of the elite.

The old constitutional republic dead, Pascal….It’s like the last days of the Roman Republic – and the American people have elected their Julius Caesar to cut out the rot in the empire.

        • Pascal says:

I fear the death of the republic as well Ron. But Trump is neither a Sulla nor a Caeser.

He has never fought a battle in the field and, more importantly perhaps, has no battle-hardened troops such as the ones wedded to those two winning generals. The former used them enforce the proscriptions against the Marians (the socialists of his day), and the latter won the love of people in large part due to his free gifts to them, being even more extravagant than was his uncle Marius. Caesar was a socialist. Is that what you believe of DJT?

I fully understand your desires, but the analogy breaks down. I could list the various ways it breaks down, but I bet you are informed enough to do that yourself. Start with the analogy that the 16 years of Bush/Obama rule were worse than the 7 years of Marius. It took only 7 years to trigger that civil war — won by Sulla in 2. And then it all reverted back down the road to tyranny after Sulla died in 79BC. And the Romans did that to themselves because they preferred the “free” gifts more than liberty.

And that is what I mean by “ourselves” Ron and just as Shakespeare did. Ourselves is the nation, not any one individual who still cherishes the promise of America. As Reagan said, the candle of “freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction.” Damned Progs have been busy while our version of Rome fiddled.

If anyone else would like a more detailed breakdown, I will oblige.

          • Ronbo says:

            @Pascal:

I think my example of the Roman Republic in chaos during the 1st century B.C. and the American Republic of today has many ominous parallels with ancient Rome – An oligarchy out of touch with the People and a breakdown in the constitution – a nation teeming with foreigners – a military engaged all over the place in far off wars. Corruption run amok. The smell of revolution in the air. A capital city with dark and dangerous conspiracies being hatched.

Yes, Trump did not earn his reputation on the battlefield,; however, is not life as a successful CEO of a large corporation tantamount to having been a great military leader?

And how did the Americans react to the collapsing republic? In a parallel way the ancient Romans did by opting for a strongman to overpower the oligarchy.

The Americans selected Trump as the nationalist strongman and the Romans went for Caesar. He accepted the role of dictator to reform Rome, but the Roman People wanted him to be king, which he refused.

It is interesting to note that Trump’s failure to repeal and replace Obamacare failed miserably, but Trump’s popularity with his Base has not suffered.

Like Caesar, Trump is the darling of “The Mob” and woe to those who would harm a single hair on head!

            • Trump’s base is hopefully impervious to the attempts to delegitimize him. The great Grab Them by the Hoo Hoo Scandal went nowhere despite that ambush from the Bushkins.

The fact that we have an oligarchy has been glaringly exposed. I thought the Cold War was a righteous effort but after it ended (against the USSR) the true nature of our politics was revealed. No longer was it meaningful to point to what we were against; now the question became what are we for? The answer turned out to be Israel, Saudi Arabia, the Muslim Brotherhood, massive third-world immigration, the destruction of the West, the deindustrialization of the U.S., endless war for mysterious or laughably bogus objectives, and contempt for the Constitution (though that was hardly a recent phenomenon).

How cool is that? Sign me up.

The article’s point that “A Republican congress will always squander opportunity” is beyond accurate. These are times that cry out for a five-page booklet summarizing the crisis of debt, spending, war, the debasement of citizenship, the sickness of foreigner worship, and civilizational decay but don’t look to the Republicans to attempt to chart a course.

Even Trump won’t hazard such an initiative, especially because he’s not a conceptual thinker and has succeeded only by hammering on “America first,” a visceral but simplistic and limited patriotism, business common sense, and a vague indication that he’s intent on restoring a modicum of order. Don’t look for him to make any kind of a case for constitutional originalism or the rottenness of diversity and multiculturalism. It’s “nation of immigrants” all day, every day.

On the specific issue of health care, what Ryan and McC dished up was an insult. Yet ANOTHER gift from Mt. Olympus with zero discussion of the rationale of the “new” approach. Shades of “comprehensive immigration reform” where not a yard of fencing or one troop could be put on the border until McCain and Lindsey had made up their minds on how many Tibetan chamber maids were needed in our motel industry. Anyone give a fig about the complete absence of “health care” as one of the things respecting which power was delegated to the Congress? I’ve checked. It’s not one of the delegated, enumerated powers but to the last man the political elite just assume that it’s ok to fiddle with health care on the federal level. I think I can see where this is going.

Making a case for anything to the sovereign people is a ludicrous concept now. It’s BOHICA first, last, and always. Like it or lump it, boys. You’ll thank us later.

          • HIstory does not repeat it’s self exactly.
            It morphs somewhat.

            • Ronbo says:

It’s easier to believe that something has happened before in general way, than something that has NEVER happened before.

For instance, I can predict with accuracy that when a country goes communist it will end up in poverty and chaos; however, I can’t predict EXACTLY when the collapse will come in years.

The United States of America modeled itself on the ancient Roman Republic with the difference that the founders of the new republic believed they had corrected the flaws in the Roman constitution.

Today it is clear they didn’t and an oligarchy has seized control…So I conclude that the road to dictatorship takes longer in a representative republic founded on the wisdom of the ages – it comes.

Here’s Government Increasing Lying A-hole Ryan in January 2016

So next year if we’re sending this bill to a republican president it will get signed into law. Obamacare will be gone.

    https://youtu.be/A7aRKhgusi0

GILA Ryan could abandon this week’s bill and bring the 2015 reconciliation bill to the floor of the House for a vote — but expect pigs to fly first.

    • Ronbo says:

Pascal, you do a good job of exposing the rot in our body politic, but you’re not thinking outside the box – a complete overthrow of the oligarchy and that means trusting one man to be dictator, but not a tyrant.

I trust Trump to do this task – to be the modern day Caesar – to cut chop to pieces the oligarchy and get things done.

I lived in Southern California for about a year in San Diego (2009) – and when I moved into my over priced apartment with the ocean view, the landlord said, “Why are you moving to California? All my tenants are moving east and north. This is the People’s Republic of California and not the Golden State.”

Yes, ditto the states…ditto the cities….ditto the counties…ditto anywhere the Democrats rule.

  9. I am surprised at the number of “conservative” radio voices who criticize those of us who opposed this bill as too conservative and unrealistic.
If we are unrealistic, what was the third phase supposed to accomplish?

  10. Ronbo says:

Dick Morris says what I have said for a couple of weeks. Obamacare really has been killed, and no one noticed.
    —————————–

Trump has Already Effectively Repealed Obamacare (Dick Morris)

    Facebook ^ | Dick Morris http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

Trump told the IRS not to enforce the “individual mandate.” That is the essential coercive element. No mandate, no O-care. Morris said he did this last week—in fact, I heard more than four weeks ago that the IRS was NOT enforcing this and just assumed it came from Trump.

Second, the requirement that you buy from an “approved” insurance company—Trump waived that as well by telling HHS to approve any policy as “qualifying.”

Yes, some of the subsidies and other crap remains, but the individual mandate—which the USSC upheld—is gone and so is the other coercive mechanism.

    And nobody noticed.
