Investigation reveals the Veterans Administration hiring doctors with licensing issues and pasts-
“Neurosurgeon John Henry Schneider racked up more than a dozen malpractice claims and settlements in two states, including cases alleging he made surgical mistakes that left patients maimed, paralyzed or dead.
He was accused of costing one patient bladder and bowel control after placing spinal screws incorrectly, he allegedly left another paralyzed from the waist down after placing a device improperly in his spinal canal. The state of Wyoming revoked his medical license after another surgical patient died.
Schneider then applied for a job earlier this year at the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was forthright in his application about the license revocation and other malpractice troubles.
But the VA hired him anyway.”
And this is the system the left thinks is a good model for the rest of the nation 
I had high hopes somebody would be able to clean out and reform the VA, but it appears to be business as usual.
My middle brother has been a Nurse supervisor for nearly many years,his opinion is that the best fix for the VA system would be privatization,mainly because of a private hospital’s ability to hire and fire as needed.
The VA hospital my father goes to is ranked #2 in the nation,but that’s like graduating top in your class,it doesn’t mean you’re smart,it just means you’re smarter than the rest of the idiots in the same class.
The saying in medical circles is that if you do spinal surgery you need to move town every 10 years because of the number of dissatisfied patients – failed surgery, chronic pain, neurological loss, etc. He sounds just a little worse than average.
The biggest problem with the VA is they try to do everything in house,even though many times there is a private specialty hospital that does a far better job in the same city.The VA system is designed to keep a patient captive,a Vet can go to any hospital he wants if it’s an emergency,but even then it generates paperwork and co-pays.
Then there are the long wait times for common procedures. My own Father had been needing knee replacements for 10 years and kept getting denied.When they finally did approve them the surgeon turned him down saying he was too old.
I know the VA hospital in Iowa City. It’s very good.
Some are and some are pretty inconsistient.The one my father uses can be stellar one time and horrible the next,there just isn’t much predictability
