The Sorry State of Education

Interesting essay in American Thinker from the perspective of a former teacher-

American Thinker-

“Three reasons determined my course of action.  For one thing, administration had come to deal less with academic issues and more with rules of conduct and punitive codes of behavior, as if it were a policing body rather than an arm of the teaching profession.  Woe betide the (male) student accused of sexual assault or misconduct; the administration will convene an extra-judicial tribunal to punish or expel the accused, often with a low burden of proof.  It will find ways to shut down conservative speakers.  It will browbeat faculty and students to attend sensitivity training sessions on matters of race and gender.  It will strike task forces to deal with imaginary issues like campus rape culture and propose draconian measures to contain a raging fantasy.  The administration is now beset by two basic compulsions: to expand its reach at the expense of the academic community and to ensure compliance with the puritanical norms of the day.  I thought it prudent to take early retirement rather than wait for the guillotine to descend.”

  1. Ronbo says:

….which speaks volumes why the majority of young Americans do not go to college.

    • Darin says:

It’s certainly a raw deal.Paying too much for a degree that isn’t worth what it used to be.
I know a few kids that have either gone directly into the workforce and put off college,or decided to attend a four year technical school instead.

      • Darin, my question has to do with this:

They may decide to play the same game in technical college. Is this happening in technical college? Are there plans to make this happen in technical college?

If the answer is no, technical college should get first choice. There’s also online courses etc.

        • Oh and finally, you could also just avoid dirty sluts. My experiences say, “dirty liar, with a loose mouth, is a dirty slut with a loose body”. If she has loose morals it will show with her lack of honesty and her promiscuity.

That was even the lesson (or similiar) with Joseph. She didn’t respect her promises of faithfulness to her husband even when reminded. She didn’t take no for an answer, she was aggressive. She was covetous, wanted what she wanted. Because she was morally bankrupt, she was also a dirty liar.

By the way, the video that I made which got banned on You Tube was connected to this topic, though it has been allowed back on.

          • Darin says:

This kind of stuff doesn’t go in technical college because by and large it’s foot soldiers are the children of rich liberals who never will attend a college they feel is beneath them.
And the only reason they get away with it at the colleges they attend,is because their rich parents are alums there or have donated enough to the university trust that they can demand wide lattitude for their children’s idiotic behavior and get it.
It’s also a little known secret that most of these major universities are sitting on massive cash endowments. The entire system is a scam, starting with the student loan program.

  2. My thinking is maybe people should go to college overseas then.

    • Darin says:

Some do,but given the language barrier they are stuck with western universities and most have been contaminated with the same nonsense.

  3. Ronbo says:

My plan would to end all federal aid to education – at any level – and so should all the various states….I say let us return to the late 18th century and early 19th centuries before public funds were used in education. I say let the colleges sink or swim on their own merits.

Education is a private matter – the government has no business being involved.
