Quite. It’s turning into a nightmare for HRH, poor woman. Sadly it won’t take much to turn a few more Brits away from respect for the Crown. Maybe these modern royals wouldn’t mind that.

        • KG says:

I think it’s high time Brits turned away from respect for the Crown.

True enough KG. I was heartened when it was leaked that HRH was in favour of Brexit. They have to remain silent, except for the occasional leak. When it’s necessary I’m sure they will let their feelings known. At least I bloody hope so, if it comes to that.

      • Darin says:

No idea, but those saws are like hen’s teeth, exceedingly rare and usually fetch a pretty penny.Regular fixed vertical bandsaws in the 30 to 48″ range are a dime a dozen here,I;ve seen them go at auction for as little as $100.Rolling frame saws when they do come up are fought over,he’s extremely lucky to have been offered one.

Far as I know there were only two manufacturers of those rolling frame saws, one was L.Power & Co.which made the one in the video and the other was J.A.Faye&Egan Co.
The one he has is actually one of the small ones, there was a Faye with a 60″ diameter wheel set made back around 1890.The unique thing about them is their ability to cut a rolling bevel on the fly http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_cool.gif

    • Gregoryno6 says:

There was another experiment in openings in the early 70s.Based on the two pierced holes, this had a large and small button. You pressed the small button first.
I recall the tv ad for this innovation. It featured Laurel and Hardy (stand ins) and emphasised that it was a BHP product. I thought that meant it was an Australian design, but it actually came from Coors beer in the US.
The two button design was only around for a couple of years. The pull tab was redesigned and you didn’t have to remember which button you pushed first.

      • Darin says:

There was another one here also that disappeared,it was a can with a hole in top and the hole had a thin piece of foil lined plastic bonded over it .They were near about impossible to get open when wet though so that design didn’t last long.

      To the main point, however…
BP is on the money with the insane left. They are driving moderate citizens toward the right. Seeing how lefty learning-holes like Evergreen and Mizzou have felt the backlash as enrolments drop, you’d think the Marxist Minority would be waking up to the chasm they’re skirting.

    Here’s a surprise – not.

Cancer deaths in U.S. decline again, but prostate cancer death rate creeping up.

This correlates with the emphasis on NOT using the PSA as a screening method by governments “because it results in unnecessary treatment which might cause impotence and/or urinary incontenance” – which is a bullshit argument even although it might have had some merit 20+ years ago. As a screening tool, even with false negatives and positives, it can alert one to changes which can then be investigated further with much more expensive tests and can be monitored for the need for treatment.

‘…To put it another way: if Americans have a constitutional right to access the Twitter feeds of public officials, that means that no one — neither the President nor the CEO of Twitter — is allowed to prevent them doing so.’
As one commenter asks: if Twitter can’t censor then what about Facebook and Google?

The shuttle was only useful for low earth orbit missions, not for geosynchronous ones.

BTW, I was the lead thermal engineer on two communication satellites and had a hand in over 100 communication satellites including 3 of the GOES (N & P, and I think R).

Cool,my Dad had a hand in both Apollo and the Shuttle programs at Martin Marietta’s Michoud facility and later finished his career working for Sperry just before the corporate incest that gave the world Unisys happened.

I know the Shuttle wouldn’t have been useful for this, but I never miss an opportunity to take a dig at Nasa for ending the Shuttle program early.

Alcohol Nazi’s. They think they will be able to do alcohol what they did to cigarette smoking. Every damn article about the adverse effects of alcohol use phrases and words like: could possibly, might, suggests. None of then define moderate drinking but somehow the new buzz phrase is 6 drinks/week and this is after a drink has mysteriously been reduced from 150ml wine to 90ml. Liars the lot of them. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_mail.gif

I am constantly chuckling about the news reports that refer to the Obama Administration’s spying on Trump as ‘Truely shocking’. Anyone who actually followed the HBSC’s statements and actions would not be at all surprised, I know I’m not. I’m actually hoping this will finally bury that bastard under the dung heap he built.
