Breaking: Federal Judge Strikes down Obamacare-

A federal judge in Texas struck down the Affordable Care Act on Friday night, ruling that former President Barack Obama’s signature domestic legislation has fallen down like a losing game of “Jenga.”

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth sided with the argument put forward by a coalition of Republican-leaning states, led by Texas, that Obamacare could no longer stand now that there’s no penalty for Americans who don’t buy insurance.

The U.S. Supreme Court had upheld the law in 2012, by classifying the legislation as a tax. But since Congress removed the individual mandate in 2017, O’Connor ruled, there’s no way the ACA can be allowed to stand.

It will be interesting to see how the Supreme Court rules on this. It looks to me that Obama Care is out which will force the Dems to come to the table; they can no longer simply be obstructionists on the issue.

      • Darin says:

Yes,this will be a good test to see where the court now stands.

The Dems are hopeless, they have already come out in force and pledged to dig in their heels and do nothing, except obstruct and impeach.

One thing is for sure, this will get interesting quick if the SCOTUS upholds the lower court’s decision.

Well KG, welcome to Keynesianism. If you don’t have a job the government is meant to spend more, so that you’ll have a job. It is meant to spend on health.

We’ve had generations of this mentality, it’s always up to the government to fix everything. Those on the right are sometimes called cold and heartless, greedy, grubby people.

    • mawm says:

ACC has in part helped keep down the costs of medical care in New Zealand. Without it we’d have the NHS problem where trusts have to fork out millions for treatment injuries (and they are not all due to bad doctors but rather complications of treatment) depleting the coffers for buying new equipment or providing services.

This particular pain specialist seems to be a couple of standard deviations from normal practice. In his defence, and having done a fair amount of pain management myself, the ACC is being defrauded at alarming rates by people claiming for non existent pain and as well as non accident stuff.

      • KG says:

I agree with your points, Mawm, but it seems to me that bureaucrats are given much too much power and incentive to meet targets and they often do that by riding roughshod over sometimes vulnerable people’s rights.
I’m no bleeding heart, but I know of no instances where given that much power, stupid and/or ambitious bureaucrats haven’t abused it.

Would Human Extinction Be a Tragedy?

I couldn’t duplicate it, but of course they put their headline in 48 point font. They’re proud of their hatred of humanity.

We have tolerated people who preach this sort of death wish for far too long, and they are too near the pinnacle of power.

For the sake of decency, such people need to be marginalized widely, and the people who permit them their rise to prominence need to be removed. That second group is the power, and they act as if their hands are clean. Do not be fooled by their seeming calm demeanor as they will become deadly as the time for their removal becomes imminent. Be prepared.

The fact that the mountain of skulls as a consequence of permitting Red regimes to rise always gets downplayed by our SOVIET-STYLE MEDIA ought to be the biggest clue without even looking at all the bloody papers written about the need to “do something about over-population.”

The West has up to now not been subjecting its own subjects to torture and murder (permissiveness towards Antifa indicates that’s changing), but they’ve been doing its utmost to get us to kill ourselves, or short of that, to adopt life-styles that don’t reproduce. And now they’re going so far as to force little children to be sterilized because they might mention to willing ears that they’d consider being another sex. Goddamn all the elites who are hostile to humanity.

    Winston Peters is a disgrace.

He has signed NZ up to the UN Migration Compact. This is the politician who stood on an anti immigration platform. So he has shafted his voters a second time (the first with supporting Labour). Because you know that this kind of thing works its way in to NZ law and you couldn’t give a stuff. Disgraceful liar. *spit*

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/opinion/109441711/kiwis-want-a-speedier-end-to-child-poverty
Dodgy research, political agenda and no hope in hell of the money reaching vast numbers of kids.Plenty of people in NZ live in houses with gardens, for example. Imstead of vegetable plots those “gardens” are often filled with wrecked cars, broken toys and garbage, yet we hear people whining about not being able to afford fresh vegetables for the kids!
Take a look at obese “parents” filling supermarket trolleys with junk food, at the vast numbers buying junk in stores like the Warehouse, and – most of all – take a look at NZ’s appalling child abuse figures.

To think that the proposed $60 a week per child would ever reach the children is pure fantasy. But it will sure help buy a lot of dope and cigarettes. And Maori votes.
Update: An interesting comment under the article:
‘Check out Horizon research for your answer. Up for $1000 and an iphone if you sign up to their polls. Nothing neutral about the answers obviously’

    • Darin says:

“To think that the proposed $60 a week per child would ever reach the children is pure fantasy. But it will sure help buy a lot of dope and cigarettes.”

Isn’t it amazing, humans exhibit the exact same behavior the world over once they have been reduced to the lowest common denominator.
Years ago now the government gave out food stamp books to the poor. Many of those stamps were traded for beer, smokes, dope you name it.Then color copying machines became common and for a couple bucks down at the local office supply store they could turn $50 worth of food stamps into $500 or $5000 even, then go trade the counterfit stamps for $.50 on the dollar.

So now they get plastic cards, some states even give them a cash balance that they can do whatever with.So my question is,why do they need a universal basic income since they essintially already have one??
