Kiwis neither understand nor want liberty:

The answer to their fears is always more laws and regulations. Which may be all well and good, until they wake up one morning and discover that what they regarded as perfectly ordinary yesterday, is today verboten…

  1. bahahaha says:

    Liberty for gang scum? :wtf

    • KG says:

No, liberty for Kiwis who are not gang scum. Go away and look up “slippery slope”, “free speech” and “wedge” you fucking moron.
After you get something at least resembling an education you might just realise what a clown you’ve made of yourself with that comment.

      • Moist von Lipwig says:

“Kiwis neither understand nor want liberty”

Well the laughing one fits the first part of that sentence perfectly.

  2. Andrei says:

People just don’t think, gangs are an easy target for demoniztion but once the precident is set …….

This is how we succumb to tyranny

  3. Andrei says:

Of course if you own a bar or a restaurant and you say “no gang insignia” that’s ok by me.

And if you say men must wear a tie, that’s fine by me to.

And if you say no smoking in my bar that’s ……. oh wait the government has decreed that you must ban smoking in your bar whether you agree to that or not.

We are well down the road to tyranny

  4. Ciaron says:

So… the missing option should be:
Any proprietor shall be lawfully able to decline admission and/or services upon any basis that proprietor sees fit

I imagine some sort of list at the point of entry will be effective.

  5. Cadwallader says:

The entire debate is stupid. As soon as silly dumb-arse patches become a point of consternation then gravitas is attached to them.
The graph doesn’t really say anything about liberty etc, you draw a long bow to conclude that it does. Personally I never encounter gangs nor their absurd adherents. I don’t demonise gangs, I just ignore them. If an instance occurs involving a gang which impacts on my life then I may re-address this, in the interim silly census graphs do not register for me. The gang that does concern me is the parliamentary one.

  6. What about the gangs in parliament, such as Blue Power and the Red Mongrel Mob?

  7. KG says:

I don’t “draw a long bow” at all,Cad. The fact that so many Kiwis think gang patches should be banned everywhere obviously means that those people place regulation before liberty and don’t have the faintest understanding of the way laws and regulations eventually come to affect all of us, and place more power in the hands of politicians and bureaucrats – whatever the original intention.
People who are comfortable with that do not value liberty.
How the hell is that drawing a long bow, unless you define liberty as being able to do anything that’s not prohibited?

  8. The Gantt Guy says:

First they came for the gang members, but because I wasn’t a gang member…

Definitely definitely definitely a slippery slope. And if the morons who wear patches want to get dolled up in their party dresses and do society a favour by taking each other out, then I say … I’ll bring the popcorn, you bring the beer! :popcorn

  9. KG says:

Shhhh, Ciaron–we’ll get better beer if we bring our own.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Yeah right. You’ll probably buy that bloody XXXX horse-pee. I’d be bringing Miller Chill or Mac’s Gold.

But since you’re bringing the beer and I’m springing for popcorn, I’ll leave it to you. :whoop

  10. oswald bastable says:

I kinda like my targets clearly identified…

  11. KG says:

And our governments are importing these primitive, murdering assholes!
    From the “Breaking News” site:
Thousands of northeastern Indians flee Bangalore after rumors of retaliatory sectarian violence attacks –
Update: 10 dead as gunmen attack airbase in Pakistan –
20 Shiites pulled off buses in northern Pakistan, shot and killed, official says
At least 19 people killed and 104 injured in wave of attacks across Iraq ahead of Ramadan end –

  12. KG says:

But of course, the ones who end up in the West, whether they come legally or illegally, are magically just the peace-loving tolerant ones.
Now, about this bridge I have for sale…..

    • Ronbo says:

Yes, even Seattle has become a new home for Muzbot barbarians from Somali…black, stupid, diseased and living in the 7th century.

…and if it weren’t for a generous monthly check from the Federalists – and equally lavish support from the People’s Republic of Seattle and King County – these African tribesmen wouldn’t survive the long Northwest winter.

So it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that without government money, the Muzbot problem in America would quickly end. as without marketable skills they would soon die of disease or starvation.

  13. mistress mara says:

Ronbo. Your Somalis sound a bit like ours. In a nearby part of town I drive through daily to visit my dear old mum, I see them most days wandering around stoned on qat-khat and unemployed. They live in state houses that reek of charred goat meat and babies. (Yes, I’ve been in a few.) I will start worrying about gang patches once this blot on the landscape has been addressed. Which will be approximately never.
