Kiwis go to the polls on Saturday

List briefly in comments all the ways the Key government has failed New Zealanders and we’ll put that list up as a post on election day.
UPDATE: And just for fun, here’s a perfect example of a braindead, indoctrinated crypto-socialist voter.

  1. pmofnz says:

Abusing his mandate by going native.
Ignoring the will of the people on anti-smacking.
    Supporting the ETS scam.
Tossing decades old principles out for control at any cost.

  2. Angus says:

Well, pmofnz essentially nails it right there ! But I’d add:

    * Failure to articulate to the electorate the dire state of NZ’s fiscal situation with any tangible sense of reality.
    * The pusillanimous back down on the mining issue.
*Providing an easy path for parasites like Klark & Kullen to get into cushy public sector jobs, and in Klark’s case, a cushy international job.

  3. Redbaiter says:

Reintroducing the Electoral Finance Act, a typically socialist attack on free speech.

  4. KG says:

Ah yes, I’d forgotten that particular piece of bastardry….

  5. Redbaiter says:

..and of course most likely entering into a coalition with the Watermelons after the election.

Now that is really vomit inducing..

    Spitting on Sid Holland’s grave.

  6. KG says:

I can’t get over the feeling that Klark and co prepared the ground- with the aid of the teacher’s unions- and turned NZ into a European-style soft socialist country, so successor governments will have to stick to the “middle way” in order to stay in power.
Given the Kiwi mindset nowadays it seems unlikely that a true conservative party would have a hope in hell of getting elected.

    • Redbaiter says:

      I agree.

I’m not hoping for any change through the ballot box in the near future.

Its only going to come by way of economic collapse.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Absolutely agree. Witness the way the MSM have completely ignored the Conservative Party until absolutely forced to do so. Witness the way the broken-arsed ACT muppets have attacked the Conservative Party all over the online world in hopes of diverting focus from their own broken brand. Witness the way the artificial right like WhalOil have attacked them.

Imagine what they’d do to a Palin, Cain or West should one ever appear on the NZ scene?

  7. Redbaiter says:

Nick Smith’s dolling out of taxpayer money to “green” business “winners” he personally picked.

    Another typically socialist scam.

Buying votes with other people’s money.

  8. Richard says:

Not doing anything about reining in benefit dependency while his sidekick Double Dipton conceded the war by calling them “entitlements.”

  9. Redbaiter says:

As for standing a candidate in Epsom, wasn’t that a stroke of genius??

Honestly, these pukes are complete and utter fuckwits.

  10. Cadwallader says:

There’s lots, but snuggling up to tattooed tribalists and the ETS crap are two of them.
    (remainder of comment deleted. kg)

  11. oswald bastable says:

His failure to have a meaningful cleanout of the socialist-ridden public service.

  12. mawm says:

Sneaking Sharples off to NY to sign the Indigenous Peoples crap.
    Marine and Coastal Areas Act
Rushing on with the TOW payments (which have not been allowed to feel the GFC heat).
Having Smith and Finlayson in his Cabinet.

And then there are all his “failures”. Failure to stop expanding the welfare state. Failure to get rid of all the “Ministries” that are leftist wet dreams. Failure to stand up for his country against the global warming scam. Failure to stop spending.

  13. Redbaiter says:

“(There is a so-called Conservative Party in NZ but it is populated by Capill types.)”

That is a cowardly smear that marks you as someone with very little regard for truth and principle.

  14. I am sure a list of Liarbour’s failings will be much longer.
But it does look like polling day will be a damage limitation exercise.
Disappointed as we are with Liarbour-lite, the real thing would be far worse.
Imagine the country ruled by the potential zombie coalition of losers, featuring Gaffe, Peters, the Watermelons and Hone Harawira.
Today’s polls show such a nightmare is a distinct possibility.

    • KG says:

FFM, I believe National are in no meaningful way better than Labour were.

      • Darin says:

From the outside looking in I think your right Keith. It looks to be the same Repb/Dem dilemma we have here. Both are taking us to Hell, the only difference is one is driving a little faster.

The only possible fix for this without open civil war is to form a grassroots conservative movement and inject conservatism back into one party or the other such as the Teaparty is trying to do.

  15. kowtow says:

Agree with most of the above.

Key,needs to be his own man. I think he is a conservative at heart and doesn’t believe in the ETS, Maori seats or that parental discipline should be a crime. He’s said as much but then goes along with these things. Thus he comes across to me as weak, timid, compromising, wishy washy. And yet alot of voters like him!.

Instead of showing leadership and honesty he seems to be run by faceless advisers and PR spin types. Epsom is to my mind a good example. He should have come out strong and honest and said outright ,”in MMP it’s tactics that count so vote Banks” . No apologies, just victory.

Fact is the Nats were made unelectable by the MSM under Brash so the Nat machine found Key who was acceptable to the MSM,first time around. Now they want to play king maker again .

He’ll regret Epsom if Peters gets in.And it will be down to Key for not showing real fight.
Sorry that’s not a short list as requested

  16. How about these unmentioned ones:

    – Passing the CERA and making King Gerry the first of Christchurch.
    – Attempting to end the right to silence.
    – Raising GST.

    For starters…

  17. pmofnz says:

And KG, you thought the list of non-achievements would be short?

Now to make a comparable of actual right leaning achievements iaw their principles…

    A very short list indeed.

    • KG says:

 I just left a comment over at Ele’s place, PM. ;-)

      • The Gantt Guy says:

“Its values include national and personal security, equal citizenship and equal opportunity, individual freedom and choice, competitive enterprise and rewards for achievement and sustainable development”

Pure comedy gold! Pretending they have ‘values’ other than ‘do any deal with any scumbag or thug to retain power’.

  18. Jay says:

    Mine:

    Continued pushing of welfare state
    Pandering to Maori racists
    Emissions trading scam

  19. KG says:

Liberty Scott: “Airheads who don’t vote are a lot safer than airheads who do.”

  21. Kris K says:

How about Key’s reneging on his 2008 pre-election promise to remove the racist Maori seats?! Which ties in, I guess, with his going unnecessarily into coalition with the racist Maori Party post election, and all his subsequent appeasement and horse-trading with same. What a lying traitorous piece of human excrement Key is!!!

  22. The Gantt Guy says:

My FB status update @ 12.33am:

“Here’s the thing. It’s past midnight in NZ, and that means it’s polling day … there. So all the NZ blogs have put up sooky “No Posting” signs because they don’t want to breach electoral law (not allowed to mention politics on election day – typical NZ nonsense!).

It isn’t yet midnight here, so I am going to make a comment about politics. My comment is this: if my kiwi friends vote for any party other than the Conservatives or ACT, they are voting for more government, more debt, more intrusion into their lives and more craven pandering to causes as ridiculous as “climate change” and the bribery they cover up as “treaty settlements”.

When you go to the polls tomorrow, if you have an ounce of sense you must choose either the Conservatives or ACT. Alternatively, stay home. The entire process is corrupt anyway, so why bother?”

    • KG says:

Spot-on, Gantt. I’ve a feeling that this is going to be a bad day indeed for NZ. Europe is in deep trouble, China may well follow (as well as America) and Kiwis are about to re-elect a European style borrow-and-spend government.

      • The Gantt Guy says:

Funny thing is, while there’s been some talk of Europe’s guaranteed slow-motion demise (which only started this week when Germany’s bond auction tanked) nobody is really talking about china yet, when their ‘growth’ has been built on a mountain of Greece-style debt, and which, when it collapses, will make Europe’s implosion look like a November 5th fire-cracker!

In many respects I’m thinking the Sheeple should just vote watermelon, mana and apartheid. Hasten the collapse so we can get on with the rebuilding!

        • KG says:

That’s my feeling too. Better a quick amputation….

          • The Gantt Guy says:

Yup. Unfortunately, there are still so many content with the slow, painful carcinoma of business as usual (I mean, just take a look around the ‘right’ of the blogosphere) it will take complete and total collapse before the wake the fuck up.

  23. KG says:

And they’ll be surprised–nay, amazed–by the collapse when it comes.

  24. Sinner says:

    1. failure to run a robust anti-coruption inquiry, and gaol Klark, Winston & all Labour & NZF MPs & party leaders
    2. failure to remove unions from NZ, hang the leaders & disenfranchise “members”
    3. failure to deregulate the labour market, terminate all “Labour” laws.
    4. failure to terminate all welfare benefits & super, WFF, ACC, EQC,…
    5. failure to terminate “free” healthcare & “free” education
    6. failure to arm police & give them the legal tools to do the job – shooting crims & leftists
    7. failure to cap individual taxes (zero rate over 250k income) and terminate corporate taxes and FBT
    8. failure to privatize or eliminate remaining state services (police, customs, fire, etc)
    9. failure to sell all state “liabilities” (yes including the roads, hospitals, grid…)
    10. failure to reform electoral & governance systems so socialist policies can never again be pursued in NZ

    and best of all

    11. failure to make being a socialist, greenist, activist, unionist, labourist, bludger a crime in perpetuity, with a bounty for police & citizens who shoot on sight!
