It’s a weak attempt at a pun KG – transliteration is Horoshow means “Good!” but could translate as All Right! or maybe “awesome!”

You American Civil War folks may recall the Nov 30, 1864 battle of Franklin, Tennessee. The above link will lead you to other places and action in the area. I think the above giant insect reminded me of the old enemy perhaps. I had told the bog administraitor that I might send something for Nov 30 but the current crop of insects are alas buzzing nearby.

I have made five trips to Franklin where my great grandfather served in the 24th South Carolina Infantry. When visiting Franklin, I can go to Confederate Gen’l Hood’s headquarters on Winstead Hill and yell You damn Yankees across the valley then turn to Hood and cuss him out. Of course he was a double amputee on opium unfit for command so then I can face Richmond the Confederate capital and cuss out Jeff Davis and Lee for putting him in charge of anybody. You can’t get no satisfaction as a Rebel but you do get to clear out your lungs. Y’all enjoy the links.

You are going to need a very large can of RAID or a shotgun.

It is a really dozey insect……….especially compared to its cousin-on-steroids: the far more aggressive and hard-to-kill “Parktown Prawn” which emits a foul black substance if disturbed. Yetch!

They are the prototype for the ‘Prawns” featured in the movie District 6.

Aah yes–delightful little bastards. Not. One of the charming aspects of Angola, too.
