But of course, it’s ok for the teachers – the vast majority of whom are leftists – to “influence children with their political views”. What we have here are people who are outraged that their indoctrination monopoly is being attacked.

    While I agree with you KG that many (if not most) teachers across the US are Left leaning, that does not excuse ignoring the difficult times in US history. There is no need to downplay the bad bits, just don’t forget the vast majority of good parts. History is the ‘warts and all’ of how a country has dealt with the challenges it faced. No other country has given its citizens more individual freedom and opportunity to succeed to the utmost of their ability and desire. Many other nations have faced problems similar to those in the US’ history and implemented far worse solutions. Point that out and patriotism and pride of country follows.

      Michael,public education in this country for the last 60-70 odd years has been nothing more than dead,white,christian male bashing and a continual attack on the Constitution and the ideals it represents.

      Sure,we have had our share of troubles,but so has every other nation on Earth.The textbooks and teachers present in the US system will exclusively blame every problem either on our culture,our system of government or our people,particularly white people of European descent.

      They never will mention how slavery was introduced to the continent,or who the players in slavery being held on so long where,nor who was responsible for segregation.Same goes for American Indian history,no mention of the role the French and Spanish played,no mention of the role the Indians played in their own downfall,nor the fact that guns,germs and steel played the significant role in their demise and not just “the white man”.

      So,no with this move I think we might just return to factual history.

      The point is – that these textbooks take all the good things in US history can and call them criminal – whether its the fight for rights in the War of Northern Aggression, the continuing resistance to this day , flattening Dresden and killing a bunch of Japs – and take all the bad things and call them good – like the surrender in Vietnam, Afganistan, Iraq, the refusal to nuke Iran, tolerance of minorities etc

    The upside to the Progressive lock on education is more and more parents are doing home schooling, sending their kids to private and or church schools where a classical education is still done, or turning to the Internet schools.

    The truth is that current educational model of 30 to 40 kids in a classroom with a teacher is reactionary – a throwback to the early days of the Industrial Revolution where being on time, producing a product and working for a manager were important skills.     Changing the school board to try and teach a more conservative curriculum is like closing the barn door after the horses have left. The marxists have been putting in their poison in small doses for 50 years. Counteracting that effectively is, unfortunately also going to be a slow stealthy process.

    What do they want, the board to push the line that America is a hateful, fucked up shithole and all Americans should be ashamed of themselves?

        Yes, the death rate is 50% for The Red Death, but we may be lucky in America and Western countries with our superior medical technology that is well funded by socialism to cut the Ebola death rate down to say…only one third…:cry:

        Yes, this would be The Black Death of 1300s fame that cut down England’s population by one-third, but as we have seen from history, the nation and the world survives.

        The upside: the unemployment rate will drop to zero, as people drop dead all over the place and replacements are needed – and what employer is gonna give a hoot in hell about someone’s qualifications or criminal record…If you’re alive you’re hired :!: And of course there will be many upscale housing units without living residents – all you’ll have to do is throw out the bodies of the dead owners and you’re in like Flint.

        Downside: :mrgreen: I don’t see how the Progressives survive the wrath of We The People, who are going to be very pissed off in the aftermath of The Red Death.
