Francis Porretto:

‘…In the name of God, people, when will it be enough?
It’s no longer sufficient to protest. Those who hold the levers of power have decided that they can ignore our voices. Worse, we can’t even mobilize ourselves for effective resistance. There’s no point in standing on a street corner and crying out a warning if those who hear are unwilling to act.
Some say we need a leader that has not yet arisen. Others demur that we’re too comfortable – that the spirit of liberty has been enervated by prosperity. There’s some justice to both assessments, but a third is uppermost on my mind this morning: that we’ve become cowards, none of us willing to risk our own lives and possessions, all of us happy to “let you and him fight.”.
….We, too, have tried argument.
We have also tried electoral measures.
We have tried everything except open revolt.
What, then, must we do?…’
The whole post is HERE
My reply to Francis is that it will never be enough. That – barring some totally unexpected catalyst for rebellion – the whole of the West is sliding inexorably into slavery and that’s not so much due to cowardice as to a few other reasons:
Lack of organised resistance with a single, coherent message. ( Too many fragmented groups fighting one another over trivial differences and trivial issues.)
The unwillingness of people with bills, mortgages and family to martyr themselves, because there would be little hope of effective support should they choose to strike a blow for liberty.
The now vast numbers of people dependent on the State in various ways who will not rise up against their paymasters.
The combined effects of the “education” system and the media which combine to keep the vast majority ignorant of the real threats to liberty.
Pray for a spark to ignite mass rebellion. And the only spark I can think of right now is economic collapse. But history teaches us that the trigger for major societal upheavals is almost never identified beforehand.

Tocqueville: Democracy in America, book iii, chapter iv

a despot easily forgives his subjects for not loving him, provided they do not love each other.

With the Soviet-style Media in full support, the despot has been PROVIDING that that hatred is inflamed and fanned. Thursday, at 91 minutes into the Mark Levin podcast was a report by Sue Payne on the Obama plan for entrenching Balkanization in the US based upon the models all around the EU. Here it is on youtube while it lasts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1JzLLhwGXw
The Daily Caller had a less complete and more benign sounding report: http://dailycaller.com/2015/02/26/obama-immigration-will-reshape-americas-politics/

    Yes indeed KG.
Fragmented over trivialities and “Provided you don’t love each other.” Who needs a George Santayana to provide further insight?

I point to Kenny’s 3%’ers if you want to know how many will act. It is ever thus, that most will suffer tyranny for the chance to not risk their lives (and it is coming to that).

  3. Ronbo says:

I’m a revolutionary of the Sam Adams school – and even old Samuel – The Father of the American Revolution – was unsuccessful in brewing up at rebellion until the pig headed British colonial office made a series of bad decisions that did the job for him – the so called “Intolerable Acts.”

Old Sammy and his “Sons of Liberty” could have saved themselves years worth of effort by just setting fat, dumb and happy in their various Boston pubs while King George III and his Tory ministers screwed things up so bad in America that revolution became inevitable.

I see the same thing happening again – a runaway government has decided to go for absolute power and is working overtime in America to screw things so bad that bloody revolution will once again become inevitable.

    What to do :?:

Stay warm and safe in your pubs and wait for THE DAY :!:

    It won’t be long now…within the next 18 months, I’d say…

      Nuts to that.

I don’t want to meet the coming festivities with a beer gut, and the more people who can be convinced to learn how to shoot, move and communicate the better.

When things get ugly at a local level there’s going to be a lot of people looking for allies and guidance. I for one don’t want to be known as that guy who spends most of his time in the boozer.

I believe the tipping point is coming. The signs are all there for another mass terror attack,we see drones surveilling points of interest in Paris, tunnels dug under sports stadiums and two US borders that are wide open to any and everyone.

So lets say this happens and we have repeat of 9/11 complete with market collapse and despite the carnage and despite the damage the powers that be STILL do nothing.

That I believe will be the moment when the people say enough is enough and throw the bastards off our backs.

There are signs, even on the left that people are getting to be thoroughly disgusted with the whole charade.Checkout Joe Scarborough of MSNBC fame after Obama’s moral equivalent bull shit parade.-

People are waking up,they are waking up and screaming at the TV set “what are you stupid f–king idiots doing???”

    I agree.

The fuse is lit and burning rapidly to the Big Bomb.

  6. Wombat says:

Y’know, I sure hope you fellas have your beans, bullets and bandaids squared away.

Given the way things are going just now I’m giving serious consideration to getting an amateur radio license and a ham set. Not long from now it might be the only way to find out just WTF is going on in the world.

    • KG says:

Why bother with a license, Wombat?

      • Darin says:

Exactly, costs nothing to listen in and the last thing you want is a piece of paper with your name and address on it saying you have a radio.

        • Wombat says:

True enough, fellas, but I wouldn’t be pulling my weight if I didn’t reciprocate, even if I live in the sleepiest place on earth.

And no, I don’t intend on giving the state a free shot at me on some petty charge. At very best they’d still put my guns through the shredder and make it very difficult for me to acquire more.

As able, I intend to pick my battles.
