   It’s the time honored way for a socialist government to get rid of debt – by starting hyperinflation…Yes, it’s tough on the little guy who get wiped out and it may start a world war, but the big people get to write the debt off the books

   If there’s hyperinflation, surely mortgage rates will rise significantly above the post-war lows that they are currently at.

   I wonder how many people with mortgages realize that if the repayment rates rise from 4% to 6%, that represents a 50% increase in interest outgoings (6 is 50% greater than 4).

   I was in Japan a couple of months ago. Deflation is wonderful.

   I could still buy cans from some vending machines for 100 yen, the same price we paid 30 years ago… (Most vending machines charge 120 yen, but that does include 8% GST that didn’t exist back in the 1980s.)

   I read Zero Hedge avidly. I don’t necessarily agree with them on every issue but every now and again Tyler Durdin (I think he’s a pen name for several authors) writes something really good.

   Let’s see: Some are predicting civil war – Others say the next scene will be World War III with Russia and China, the leading economists say hyperinflation will wipe us out…In North Carolina they are rioting and the govern0r has called out the National Guard – North Korea says they’ll nuke the West Coast just as soon as the missile and warhead are ready…..Meanwhile ISIS has turned lose an army of misfits to blow us up with IEDs….The climate change wackos say the world will end soon in Global Warming….

   SO LET’S SING THE MERRY MINUET!

   They’re rioting in Africa
   They’re starving in Spain
   There’s hurricanes in Florida
   And Texas needs rain
   The whole world is festering with unhappy souls
   The French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles
   Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch
   And I don’t like anybody very much!!

   But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud
   For man’s been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloud
   And we know for certain that some lovely day
   Someone will set the spark off
   And we will all be blown away!!
