    Here are a bunch of academics from University College London calling on the government to “Pay for Housing, Food, Transport, Internet — And Fund with Higher Taxes”. After the proposed government welfare in the form of a Universal Citizen’s Salary (for existing, not working) comes government provision of Universal Basic Services. Of course it is all Free at the Point of Use. Can someone who knows about these things tell me how this will differ from the way the Soviet Union was run? Surely someone at UCL must be aware of modern history, please?

      This is being proposed by the very same people who believe and insist that communism would work *if* the “right people” were running it.And of course they see themselves as the “right people”.

      I had a friend once that toyed with the idea that a communist system had benefits.He liked to say that the Amish order was a communist system,which it is.
      However he never made the connection as to why it worked so I made the connection for him.I told him it’s very simple why the system works for the Amish.It’s because the system is centered around a religion and a strong moral work ethic.Basically everything the Bible says not to do a leftist does and everything the Bible says to do a leftist hates,and that is why communism outside of those moral and ethical constraints simply won’t work.

      I believe this, “Universal Citizen’s Salary,” which goes by other names depending on who is spruiking it, is all about doing away with money in the first place by divorcing wealth from work, or the honest enterprise to obtain wealth. This will of course make us all, “equal,” but then even more dependent on the state, which is the real goal. Chairman Mao wanted to abolish money in the early stages of the Peoples Republic of China, but he never succeeded, but there are still lefties out there who want to follow his example.

      Plenty of these around. I had the displeasure of listening to this woman yesterday (I had to be polite) expounding the evils of anthropogenic global warming – did you know that 15 of the last 16 years have been the hottest ever, what kind of world do we want to leave for our grandchildren, carbon fuels are evil, rising sea levels, etc, etc. All straight out of the alarmist bible. When she started praising Germany for how renewable energy was supplying their grid I had to step in and tell her it was so good that they had to buy a huge amount of electricity from their neighbours at a huge cost. She looked gob smacked that her “truths” were not so and ended up mumbling about how she didn’t really know much about Germany. They retreat very quickly when their lies are challenged.
