Government to introduce laws to combat misinformation, disinformation…………..In Australia.
The federal government has pledged to introduce new laws to help reduce the spread of harmful content on social media, as the worldās most powerful tech companies try to combat the deluge of misinformation and disinformation about the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine online.
Communications Minister Paul Fletcher is planning to introduce legislation that will give Australiaās media watchdog more regulatory power over tech companies who fail to meet the standards of a voluntary misinformation and disinformation code of practice.
Under the code, misinformation is defined as false or misleading information that is likely to cause harm, while disinformation is false or misleading information that is distributed by users via spam and bots.”

“What does this all mean for 2022? Some GOP politicians and pundits envision coasting to victory by simply existing as the alternative, pushing āuncontroversialā issues, and hoping Bidenās dismal record speaks for itself. This seems reasonable enough, but there is real danger to the typical GOP Beltway consultant advice of pursuing non-committal, non-confrontational politics for fear of alienating voters. GOP central command apparently hopes to motivate voters with the mere implication they can deliver a reprieve. This risk-averse approach seems naive given the threats of our era.”
In my mind I can already hear them writing their concession speeches for when the house and senate flip back to Democrats in 2024. We’ve been here several times before,control of both houses and they still sit on their hands and do nothing,except surrender more ground. Let’s call it the “Mitt Romney” maneuver

According to the report, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg providing financing that allowed the Center for Tech and Civic Life to offer nearly $9 million in āZuck Bucksā to Milwaukee, Madison, Racine, Kenosha and Green Bay counties. In exchange, the āZuckerberg 5,ā as the report called the counties, in effect, operated Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts. Those grant funds then paid for illegal drop boxes to be placed in Democratic voting strongholds.
The illegal use of drop boxes represented a second area of concern to the special counselās office. The report notes state election code limits the manner in which ballots may be cast, providing that an elector must personally mail or deliver his or her ballot to the municipal clerk, except where the law authorizes an agent to act on the behalf of the voter.”
