Interesting times…

‘The welfare state is headed for the dustbin of history. That is certain because it is no longer sustainable. The critical question is what will replace it. As Mises pointed out, there are only two alternatives: freedom or totalitarianism. There is no middle ground. There is no political compromise that can bridge this gap….’

Why we’re leaving NZ, with disgust and sadness:

This piece of slimy, crude  propaganda by one Yvonne Tahana in this morning’s NZ Herald is clearly aimed at softening up the public for the National/Maori  government’s backroom deal to hand over vast areas of coastline to Maori. What’s even worse is that most Kiwis will swallow it.

‘Just $5 buys entry to a coastal paradise
The ownership of New Zealand’s coastline and the issue of customary title are shaping up as major political issues as the Government prepares to repeal the Foreshore and Seabed Act.
…..Visitors to Nora and Waata Rameka’s piece of paradise in Northland pay for the privilege of surfing off Takou Bay.
……..Most of the families, fishermen and surfers who come through don’t complain too much, says Mrs Rameka, a former university lecturer.
……..But access to Takou has not always been appreciated, Mr Rameka believes. “We shut it off for a few years. We were getting too many yobbos drinking down here chucking and leaving their glass bottles. We’d have to clean that up otherwise the kids would get hurt.”

Aaah, of course…”for the kids” eh. Pity she doesn’t show the same level of concern for the “kids” Maori are beating to death on a fairly frequent basis..
Or perhaps for the older of their “kids” who are threatening, robbing and raping tourists fairly frequently, too. And the article fails to mention the drug use, welfare dependency and crime which are rife in these areas. Somehow, after years of leeching off the taxpayer, a $5 charge for Kiwis to access what was always regarded as their birthright is going to fund all those things the taxpayer’s dollars have failed to provide…….
These people have lived in their “coastal paradise” for years, while hardworking people have been forced to fund their welfare lifestyle -in many cases, for generations. Make no mistake–this isn’t about “justice” at all. It’s about power. The power of a few to dictate to the many and the National Party’s sleazy deals with those few in order to stay in power.

On Arizona:

‘What would the Founding Fathers recommend if they were alive today and in Arizona? Would they counsel waiting for a year until Judge Bolton’s “temporary” restraining order blocking enforcement of SB 1070 is made permanent in a federal trial–probably presided over by herself? I don’t think so. Arizona must forcefully defy the present lawless federal government. I don’t know exactly what form that defiance should take–ranging from putting SB 1070 into effect and daring the feds to stop it, to riding Susan Bolton out of the state on the back of a pickup truck. But it must consist of something other than going through more “legal” procedures under the auspices of a federal court system which has been revealed as an arm of the Obama takeover of America.’ source

Obama stooge Susan Bolton has made plain for all Americans to see this Administration’s utter contempt for Constitutional principles.
And in the process she’s created a wonderful opportunity for conservatives to bring the enemy to battle.
Enforce the law, Arizona and let’s see what the Feds do about it.

To all the limp-wristed PC mincing optimists who claim that “dialogue”  with  islamists is the way forward: stand back while those reviled thugs from the “lower classes” do your dirty work for you. If you lack the courage to confront the problem, at least get out of the way. EDL link

Que bono?

‘The environmental damage caused by BP’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill may have been grossly exaggerated, a growing body of experts is suggesting.
In a bold move, scientists have dismissed the torrent of grim predictions from President Obama and environmentalists as ‘hype’ with no data to back it up.
Instead, those working on the ground say the oil is breaking up far more quickly than expected and the number of birds being killed is low.
……..The harsh restrictions on fishing and shrimping are being lifted and the number of birds killed is just 1 per cent of those which died in the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska in 1989.
…..Marine scientist Ivor van Heerden, a former Louisiana State University professor, who is working as a spill response contractor, said: ‘There’s just no data to suggest this is an environmental disaster.

‘I have no interest in making BP look good – I think they lied about the size of the spill – but we’re not seeing catastrophic impacts. There’s a lot of hype, but no evidence to justify it.’
Geochemist Jacqueline Michel added: ‘The impacts have been much, much less than everyone feared.’   source

‘It is us’

‘Barack Hussein Obama did not sneak into power. An army of clueless, disconnected, ignorant Americans invited him to bring his Marxist, glaringly anti-American jihad into our lives.
……..We all saw it coming, but political correctness caused most of us to clam up in the ridiculous mindset that it was more important to avoid hurting feelings than to stand up for what we knew in our hearts was being trampled underfoot. Sadly, America has become a nation of ultra-thin-skinned, whining little girls, afraid of our own shadows and so cowardly as to back away from the simple solution of speaking the truth when we know we are supposed to do so.’
