Carter says homophobia behind travel row
Chris Carter says his travel expenses were focused on because of his sexuality.
Mr Carter today announced he would be quitting politics and had withdrawn his nomination for his Te Atatu seat following an uproar over an anonymous letter he said criticising Mr Goff’s leadership.
……..In an interview with GayNZ.Com, Mr Carter said the way attention focussed on his travel with partner Peter Kaiser was about the fact they are gay.’

No, Carter, what’s behind the expenses row is that fact that you and your mincing consort are dishonest troughers, travelling the world on the flimsiest of pretexts and living it up at the taxpayer’s expense. “Phobia”? No, we aren’t in the least afraid of you and your ilk–merely disgusted. Now try to at least imitate a real man and own up–and shut up.

Biological Immortality

‘There is a Jellyfish whose biology allows it to go from a fully mature Medusa, to its polyp stage and back again indefinitely.
The Turritopsis nutricula is a small jellyfish with an ability so far unique in the animal kingdom. It is the only known jellyfish to have developed the ability to return to a polyp state. Or basically, reverse its life cycle, then grow up again. This process allows the jellyfish to bypass death. In fact, there may be no natural limit to its life span.’   source
So what’s the big deal? Bureaucracies discovered this trick millenia ago.

‘Gallup Delivers a Stunner’

‘The real historical parallel may be 1894 when Republicans took 100 seats.
As Election Day draws closer, every major public opinion poll shifts from interviewing registered voters to those whom it identifies as “likely” voters. Gallup, the oldest U.S. polling company, first developed the model it uses for identifying likely voters back in 1950 and its final election polls have proven highly accurate.
Yesterday, Gallup delivered its first 2010 “likely voter” poll and the results floored the political community. In the generic ballot question, which asks which party a voter would favor in a generic House contest, Gallup gave the GOP a 46% to 42% edge. But then Gallup applied two versions of its “likely voter” turnout model. In its “high turnout model,” Republicans led Democrats by 53% to 40%. In its “low turnout model,” the GOP edge was a stunning 56% to 38%. That kind of margin in favor of Republicans has never been seen in Gallup surveys.’                    source

Wabbit is increasingly of the opinion that voting is not the answer–it just legitimizes a dishonest charade.

‘Coldest winter in 1,000 years on its way’

‘After the record heat wave this summer, Russia’s weather seems to have acquired a taste for the extreme.
Forecasters say this winter could be the coldest Europe has seen in the last 1,000 years.
The change is reportedly connected with the speed of the Gulf Stream, which has shrunk in half in just the last couple of years. Polish scientists say that it means the stream will not be able to compensate for the cold from the Arctic winds. According to them, when the stream is completely stopped, a new Ice Age will begin in Europe.’                source

Fry or freeze…does anybody really have a clue?  Apart from John Key, that is.

Corruption: NZ, you’re standing in it.

‘..The Ngai Tahu Charities Group covers more than 30 separate registered charities including companies such as Ngai Tahu Capital Ltd, Ngai Tahu Finance Ltd, Ngai Tahu Fisheries Ltd, Ngai Tahu Property Investments Ltd, Ngai Tahu Joint Ventures Ltd, Wigram Aerodrome Ltd, South Island Landbase Ltgd, Ngai Tahu Forest Estates Ltd, Helijet Ltd, Shotover Jet Ltd (which was once listed on the stock exchange), Huka Falls Jet Ltd, Rainbow Springs Ltd, Westland Tourism Ltd, and Dart River Safaris Ltd.

These all appear to be business enterprises that have managed to be registered as Charities and hence gain tax exempt status.     Source

And guess who the Minister responsible for the Charities Commission is…… Tariana Turia, that exemplar of colorblind politics. /sarc
And do any of our Kiwi readers know of a single maori funded hospital, medical clinic, hostel, shelter, school or training scheme?  No, not one funded by channeling taxpayer’s money into maori organisations…maori funded from maori business profits. If all those businesses named above are “charities” then it is surely  reasonable to expect to see some evidence of their philanthropy.

VERBOTEN!

‘Hospitality providers – even people renting out their home – could risk a $150,000 fine for using forbidden words in their Rugby World Cup advertising.
A list of words and images, including “Rugby World Cup” and “Spirit of Rugby”, have been deemed “major event emblems and words” under the Major Events Management Act 2007.’

‘The Right To Be Human’

‘…Humanity is a terrible bother. It clamors, weeps, jokes; it raises its hands to the heavens and slumps in the gutter, drunk. It carries dead children for miles upon mother’s backs. It does irrational and sublime things. It chooses suffering and evades it. It endures almost beyond belief.  It is ugly, stubborn; it misbehaves. Yet for all its apparent turmoil humanity possesses, in its variety, a collective wisdom that surpasses the smooth patterns of the elite.’

Belmont Club’s  Richard Fernandez on euthanasia

from The Woodpile Report:

“‘We’re catching the smell of desperation. It’s one catastrophe after another, and the time between catastrophes is getting shorter. Two hundred eighty one banks have failed in the last two years, billions were shoveled into that hole, now it’s trillions—and still it isn’t enough. The guilty are sneaking away unpunished, nobody’s fixing anything, there’s an orderly-so-far devaluation of the dollar going on, the Treasury has fallen into the hands of counterfeiters and the election process has gone third-world. The home folks are broke, or nearly so, and unemployed, or about to be. Suddenly they understand fedgov isn’t on their side and now they’re debating whether fedgov is run by the criminally insane or the merely criminal. Oh yeah, this will end well….’                         The fascinating rest of it HERE
