‘FEDERAL Police and asylum seekers have clashed in violent confrontations at the Christmas Island detention centre.
Two compounds were on fire last night and detention centres workers are understood to have been withdrawn.
Federal police have used tear gas and “beanbag bullets” in the last few days to control two disturbances.
Last night 250 asylum seekers were involved in a major protest, where tear gas was used.
The Refugee Action Coalition claims the police used a stronger version of tear gas that badly affected the protesters about 10pm last night, Christmas Island time.
They claim the latest protests started in response to a letter asylum seekers received from Canberra on Thursday afternoon, but the content of the letter is unknown.
“We are again calling for the Immigration Department and the police to act with restraint on Christmas Island. It is obvious that the use of force by the police is leading to escalating tension and confrontation. Independent human rights observers are clearly needed to ensure that peaceful protests are not being suppressed by heavy handed use of tear gas and bean bag rounds,” said spokesperson for the Refugee Action Coalition, Ian Rintoul said…’

These people are illegal immigrants, queue-jumpers and scam artists. As for Ian Rintoul and the organization he speaks for–these pricks are wilfully blind to the truth about the people they claim to represent, indifferent to the costs to the taxpayer and blind to the criminal scam being pulled at our expense. ‘Gay US author Armistead Maupin outraged by Aussie restroom slur

A PROMINENT American author and gay rights activist has spoken of his anger after his partner was refused access to a toilet in an Australian restaurant after allegedly being told it was for the use of “real men” only.
Armistead Maupin told how his partner was refused use of the men’s restroom at an Alice Springs restaurant – with a member of staff saying the facility was only for “real men,” the ABC reported.

To make sure elite iwi will succeed with their claims National has reversed the burden of proof: iwi will not have to prove customary title exits, the Crown will have to prove that it does not!

As if that is not enough, National has ruled out the need for iwi to have to prove their ‘claims’ in a court of law, instead allowing deals to transfer millions if not billions of dollars worth of public assets to private corporations through secret negotiations with a friendly Minister. In addition, National has significantly lowered the threshold tests to ensure that vast tracts of public coastline will be transferred into their private hands…..
