It sobers me to read this, having stumbled across it once again as I often do perusing various blogs.
It sobers me because although it was written hundreds of years ago it could have been written today, and withstanding some small details, be a perfectly accurate sentiment for the peril we face.
Maybe you’ve read it before. Maybe not. Read it anyhow. For me it resonates more strongly with each passing year.

I bet that question was forefront in the minds many of us this morning. I was awake half the night, worrying about that very thing.

This project has nothing to do with the popular will. It’s a determined push by John Key and his fellow “progressives” to alter the culture of New Zealand. And the slimy Kiwi media is fully on-board with the whole dishonest exercise. The front page of Stuff “news” this morning kinda gives the game away…
Blatant propagandizing in the service of a cause.The so-called “consultation” process is nothing but a front to legitimize something that the majority of Kiwis are opposed to. Should the propaganda work (and it probably will) Key – despite ignoring the overwhelming results of the smacking referendum, for example – will have the arrogance to claim a mandate for change. ‘Vox populi vox Dei’ and all that…when it suits.
