An editorial in the U.K. Telegraph.
‘America must act to prevent Iraqi civil war‘
The first line begins: ‘If the Arab Spring has raised the banner of enlightened reform across the Middle East…’
Whaat? It did no such damn thing! What it did (and is doing) is substitute dictators of one stripe for dictators of another..the radical islamists.
How in hell can a major newspaper get it so wrong?
As for Iraq, if the various Arab sects refuse to learn to get along together then we should simply arm both sides to the teeth and leave them to sort it out. Then buy oil from the last man standing. What makes it the responsibility of the West, to prevent a bunch of primitives killing one another? Enough blood and treasure has been wasted on this.

    no no, stones and sticks, It ‘s more CO2 friendly. You have to think of the environment. It has to be sustainable.

    I got a better idea.Story after story lately has been that the Christian and Jewish populations of these countries is now being persecuted and murdered.

    I say we in the west should take those people in and send the goat raping followers of the religion of pieces back where they came from.

    I would much rather have some Iraqi Christians and Egyptian Jews living here that these goat raping,wife beating,child killing a–hole muslims.

    I’m with Darin on this.
    The Telegraph seems to have lost a lot of good staff since the mysterious Barclay Brothers have taken over but I can forgive them a hell of a lot for employing James Dellingpole who I reckon KG should nominate as a hero of this blog.
    It looks like the office boy has been called up to write the editorials whilst everyone else is away freezing their balls off around the Christmas tree.

    What should have happened is the U.S. should have left 3 divisions in Iraq sitting on the Iranian border – and a battalion of Rangers headquarted next to the home of the Iraqi PM. Bush blinked on this one, and Obama was happy to play to the same tune. So what has happened now is that 8 years on, after spending hundreds of gallons of blood and hundreds of billions to beat back al Qaeda and Iran and to leave a nascent democracy, it has all gone tits up. We have a President who can’t even fucking bring himself to say that our soldiers “won.” This is so fucked its beyond belief.

    As to what happens now, not another fucking dime to Iraqis . . . . they are going to have to unscrew themselves. If they think living under an Iranian theocracy sounds like a good thing, maybe they ought to have a chat with the Green Revolution folks – or for that matter, any Shia cleric – there are a lot of them – who thinks the veleyat-e-faqi is royally fucking their religion. Indeed, if we have to arm anybody, I say we arm the shit out of the Kurds and let them take on Turkey, Iraq’s Shia’s and Iran all at the same time.

    As it is, the U.S. needs to rearm and refit for a few months. Iran is on the dance card – maybe under Obama, maybe under the next President. But it is finally looking more and more like this problem will actually get dealt with.
