‘Bugs vs Man or Man vs Man?

‘A form of tuberculosis that cannot be treated has been identified in India. According to Nature “physicians in India have identified a form of incurable tuberculosis there, raising further concerns over increasing drug resistance to the disease.”…..’
Richard Fernandez   (Belmont Club) gives some fascinating background concerning the reasons for the lack of new antibiotics coming down the track. And it’s a real worry, especially given massive third-world immigration.

Take a walk through an old cemetery and pay attention to the headstones, particularly the little ones in the family plots. Before about 1935 you see usually one or sometimes two headstones belonging to children in each. After 1935 and certainly after 1945 the numbers of headstones belonging to children drop off dramatically.

Why,because that is when the first antibiotics and vaccines came to be.We had in a short period of time virtually eradicated childhood death from disease. And now look at us,devolving back into primitives yet again.

Yep. The staggering thing I took away from Richard’s post, though is that bureaucrats are largely responsible for this. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Agree totally, this is yet another example of why politicians should never be allowed to make sweeping decisions in the areas of science and technology. They simply don’t know what they are doing,or if they do there is a malevolence behind it.
