Thanks for the H/T Zen.
It’s great news, but I’m sure they’ll simply use an incremental approach to achieve the same ends. We just have to stay awake and fight each piece as it comes.
Not good, not that I supported either bill, but the OPEN act will call for a whole new Federal agency to “police” content.Congrats everyone we won the battle but lost the war,the government will now be joined at the hip to the Internet in this country. If OPEN passes and it probably will,we will have just handed them the rope to hang us.
They were always going to anyway, Darin. But the “OPEN” act isn’t done and dusted yet, according to what I read.
They go two steps forward one step back .Who wins ? The abyss is getting closer, step by step.
They hide the ‘be eaten’ part.
Saw this….
Under SOPA, you could get five years
for uploading a Michael Jackson song,
one year more than the doctor who
killed him.
Anybody that uploads a Micheal Jackson song should get five years IMHO
The problem here is two levels of involvement; the broader, and mighty issue of control (by government or whoever) and internet freedom (the macro issue, if you will), and the right of the creator of a product to profit from his enterprise ( the micro issue) .
While these two issues are commingled (as they are above) no solution to either problem will be found – they need to be separated out and discussed separately.
Good news. Looks like they’ll have to result to the usual nefarious methods.
Please copy this post and pass it on
