  1. The Gantt Guy says:

He’s a RINO – a policy invertebrate who ran to the Left of Teddy Kennedy. He trashed and distanced himself from Reagan in 1994. He’s been a Moderate, a Progressive Independent, and now he’s trying to flank Gingrich and Santorum on the Right.

Look, it’s likely Romney will be the nominee. And at least he’s shown he knows how to fight dirty (he’s gonna need to if he’s gonna beat Zero). The danger is 30 million Conservatives will stay home rather than vote for him, the same as they did McCain in ’08.

My message, every chance I get, to those folks is: if you do that, you’re giving Zero a second term. You’ve seen what he’s done the first term. Imagine what he will do to you when not constrained by the requirement to be re-elected?

But if he does win (and if Zero gives up the White House, which are definitely two different things), Pres. Romney is gonna need a Tea Party Congress and a Tea Party Senate to hold him to account. It’s reasonably certain he won’t try to use the Constitution for toilet paper the way Zero has, so he will be held by the House.

Incidentally, here he is on Fox & Friends (thanks, Breitbart.com) talking about energy. There’s heavy use of the word “drill”, and he finally gets around to attacking Zero.

Frankly, Gantt, I think the man is an opportunist scumbag. If he beats Obama the battle lines will be little different to what they are now. Unless and until the Repubs can get it together and find a credible, principled candidate in future the quick slide into totalitarianism will merely be a slightly slower one.
Either that, or conservatives have to find a way to derail Washington’s “business as usual” outside the conventional electoral model. That is, by direct peoples’s action.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Absolutely. The last time they ran a “proper” Conservative they only carried 49 states. Don’t want anything that disastrous again, do they?

      • KG says:

Yeah…I find it interesting- and creepy -that the lesson appears to have been deliberately ignored.
What’s going on? It’s almost as though the members of a club got together behind closed doors and arranged some sort of power-sharing agreement…
        oh, hang on..

  3. KG says:

    I guess I’m advocating insurrection/state’s rights/secession.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Absolutely (2). The State Houses are also SO important. They need to find their backbones and start enforcing the 10th.

Wolf Howling has a beautiful post on the state of the Republic here:

GW really knows how to get to the nub of the matter.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

That really is some seriously good writing. All the more so because every single word is true.

    • GW says:

Thanks for the kind words, KG. It’s not just the DOE. Its every regulatory bureau that is the problem.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Once again, Mr Levin made me smarter and once again, Zero is lying. These are not “subsidies”, and they are NOT given to the majors (Exxon Mobil, Shell, etc.) but to small, private operators.

The $4 Billion is what most businesses would call “depreciation” on any capital item (such as plant, machinery etc.) where you get to write it off over a period of years. With these oil companies they get to depreciate the oil field much like their plant and machinery.

The “man” cannot open his mouth without bullshit coming out.

  6. KG says:

And how much money has the bastard thrown at his cronies in “green” companies?

  7. Dallas says:

Notable is the fact that none of those who idolize socialism in the West have lived under socialist rule. Not a one.

Also notable is that these utopians who advocate the emancipation of their romanticized ‘oppressed masses’ by destroying free markets don’t actually consider THEMSELVES as part of the masses, but part of the politboro or higher up in the elite class, the purveyors of the prescription for their pet oppressed class. The highest form of hypocrisy and arrogance. Breathtaking.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Exactly right, friend. None of those Hollywood leftists or Wall St leftists or Silicon Valley leftists would ever imagine themselves being anything other than a member of the Central Committee. Not for them working in the fields or tractor factories. Not for them queuing for bread. Not for them toil in the gulags. Nope, for they would be driven around in a Zil limousine and participate in the making of decisions!

      • Pascal says:

Take heart Gantt in whom the gulags were for. With their dying breaths they’ll threaten their tormentors “wait ’til Obama find out what you’ve done.”

        • The Gantt Guy says:

Such a shame they’re all damn hypocrites. We don’t see them lining up to go live in Cuba, Venezuela or China, do we? Damn hypocrites.
