‘FLOODGATES FOR CLAIMS TO BEACHES HAVE NOW OPENED
The Coastal Coalition warned that the law change would open the floodgates for claims by opportunistic tribal corporations wanting to gain ownership and control of our coast.
This map from TV3 News in early May shows that this is now occurring with at least 21 coastal claims now lodged..’

    I can only hope that people will sign the current petition for a referendum to return the Foreshore and Seabeds to the crown, but how many people know it even exists? I found ours outside Countdown (Nelson) and people were queueing up to sign it but of course no mention in the local paper. :gunner

      Medusa, the Coastal Coalition has been doing what they can, but of course they are battling a lack of funds, a corrupt government and their willing media lapdogs. I’m surprised TV3 even published this information!

    The claim that struck me is 21: Queen Charlotte Sound. Is that not the route of the ferry between North & South Islands? Do I see a tax on every ferry passenger and every tonne of freight a-coming?
