    The Subiaco City Council in good old socialist WA has ordered me to micro-chip our family cat. The reason given is that “cats do stray and we’ll be able to return it to its owner.” I understand that future chips will require the owner’s bank details so on return the costs will be deducted directly from the owner’s bank account. My father taught me to avoid expensive pussy…now I am utterly confused! :razz:

    Seriously, how long will it be before we micro-chip babies at birth, with their future tax #s, etc.. FFS!!! Every generation breeds new police, snitches and executioners.

        The benefits of linking a particular animal to an address is “so nice” as the pet can be readily returned to its owners. The citizens are doing as told and having their cats chipped in happy anticipation of this process becoming mandatory on 1st November next. Like our cat, I am ignoring the bureaucrats at the Council.
        Perhaps I should send the Council a Report Card on my cat’s behaviour? ie How many rodents did it take out this week?

        This leads neatly into KG’s post re NZers being the East Germans of this part of the world. I recall seeing a film a few years ago called “The Lives of Others” set in the now defunct (at least in Europe) East Germany. The thrill of spying and reporting on your neighbours’ behaviour is alive and well in Australasia…now to hunt down an unlicenced cat or two next time I’m in East Germany…(oops) WA!

        Inj some ways this is already occurring…it is easy to find someone’s whereabouts through credit card usage and of course cell-phones. Where it’ll be telling is having a single # ascribed at birth for everything…tax, banking, passports, driving licences, credit facilities etc…
        Yes, in 5 years (maximum) time we’ll get buried by this techno Naziism.

    Cad, we spent a couple of months in Wickham, W.A. and left in disgust. It was easily the most PC shit-hole I’ve come across, despite being in a very remote area. A whole dual lane road closed off with orange safety mesh, so three council employees could hand-prune a few small shrubs. Driveways blocked off with ‘CAUTION–HOT WATER’ signs because a plumber was working in the house….
    Absolutely insane.The Brit elfn’safety culture has really taken over there.

      The current Councillors in Subiaco are a mob of essentially unemployable leftie bigots who have (and continue to do so) sucked from the public tit all their parasitic lives. I detest them, never voted for them and will celebrate as they meet their inevitable days of reckoning. They forget that socialism can’t survive daylight.

    So much the damage to America has been the result of, and even the threat of, frivolous lawsuits. In 2000, one of George W Bush’s major promises had been tort reform — which would include frivolous lawsuits. I may be wrong, but I do not recall any effort to keep that promise. Certainly things only got worse (as in the empowering of Kimberlin through foundation money). But W found time to do other domestic agenda items that favored the Left (e.g.: increasing the dept of education power; funneling tax money to Left-leaning religious charities). W was so typical GOP-E; it is why we are in such danger even if Romney wins in November. What Patterico has had to endure is enduring is indeed terror tactics. And the Left is loving it. But so much of it was made possible by GOP-E malfeasance even if its complicity can’t be proven.

    God help us.
