Am I alone in thinking that someone, too high up in our police force, watches too many American cop-shows?

    “Oooh, the FBI, *swoon*…”

Maybe continued promises of a free trade deal sometime in the ill defined future. There can be no doubt that it was a deal done by our government to keep Obama’s donors happy. mawm

  4. nominto says:

    just some spleen venting ..
it is said that fact is stranger than fiction…I just cringed when this guy was raided..just knew how it was going to play out.
yep ..another keystone cop show all over again.[ureweras ballsup conveniently forgotten..like illegally obtained evidence = inadmissible..]
and we are paying for this “boys bonding -day out”.
geez ..if I pulled this stunt, I wouldn’t have a job….must be these new age lawyers they have working for them.[I can name a few cop lawyers who are unfit to even sign a cheque…just f’cking gits ].About time they had personally pay back all the wasted taxes on this pathetically incompetent, so called “world class policing”.But as you have all said … no heads are going to roll here on this political farce.
Good luck to mr com..sue the b’stds for everything you can get.[afterall: the govt is quite happy to p’ss my money away]

    Bloody good show!
Now how much is the legal action going to cost muggins taxpayer

  6. Oswald Bsatable says:

Ot, but does anyone here know anything about whangarei? I have a job opportunity up that way and a warm climate sounds good right now.

  7. Redbaiter says:

Time for John Key’s Attorney general and Minister of Police to face some long overdue scrutiny on this issue. They allowed and assisted the FBI in acting like fucking Nazis.

    • rivoniaboy says:

The main duty of the State is to PROTECT its citizens.
What a fucking disgrace the Minister of Police – The Attorney General – The Police Commissioner and Key. I feel nothing but contempt for the whole lot of them.
If this is how New Zealand protects its citizens then you know we are now governed by a lot of spineless, appeasing, gutless cowards.
I hope Dotcom sues them till they squirm.

  8. Flashman says:

There goes some NZ police HQ FBI-wannebe leg humping bullshitter’s fevered wet dream.

The entire episode was an overblown stitch up from Minute 1.

  9. KG says:

“..wannebe leg humping bullshitter’s fevered wet dream.”
    Sounds about right.

  10. KG says:

Laws and property rights have become almost meaningless.
Almost, because they’re still used to tyrannize the people.

  11. WAKE UP says:

Keystone Cop incompetence is one thing, and deserves its punishment; but I still say there’s every chance that Herr Schmidt/Dotcom is a massively competent criminal who also happens to have the best PR machine in action that I’ve seen in a long time.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Riiiight. And the Urewera terrorists were running a training camp for security guards.

The guy runs a file-sharing website. It isnt arms trafficing, people trafficing or middie-porn. Any way you look at it, the response was completely over the top.

      • WAKE UP says:

I acknowledged that the response was over the top. It matters not to me whether anyone acknowledges that Schmidt/Com may also, nevertheless, be guilty , it’s simply my opinion.
The comparison with Urewera is relevant only in terms of police behaviour, not in terms of guilt. Indeed, I have no opinion on the “Urewera Four” ‘s probable guilt or not – but I sure do where Schmidt/Com and his massive PR machine and our puppy-dog media are concerned.

        • KG says:

His guilt or otherwise isn’t the issue.

          • WAKE UP says:

It is to me: I’m interested in intellectual property/copyright rip-offs
            ————————
on the issue: I’ve already agreed that all the “authorities” acted stupidly – more’s the pity, because that has played right into
            Schmidt/Com’s hands; now he’s the media’s darling…and on we go…Cheers KG

            • KG says:

              “I’m interested in intellectual property/copyright rip-offs”
Me too–but I’m far, far more interested in how many of our rights have been trashed by the media/entertainment industry getting into bed with politicians. Add up all the restrictions and insane penalties they’ve managed to get passed into law, and file-sharers look like a trivial problem.
              fuck ’em.
Consider U.N. and bank and greenie ripoffs and then worry about somebody downloading a movie– if you can.

              • WAKE UP says:

Generally speaking, we’re on the same page KG
But I’m allowed to have my hobby-horse too; and IF I’m right about Schmidt/Com, that would make him one of the wealthiest/profiteering-est crims we’ve ever admittted to our naive, impressionable nation.

                • WAKE UP says:

Good grief, now Schmidt/Com is in this morning’s paper photographed backstage at Vector Arena with Jemaine Clement of the Conchords :!: The guy’s PR abilities are unbelievable ;-)
                  ——————-
okay, that’s enough about my hobby-horse
