I’ll go first. We had a tornado hit our house a couple of days ago. Destroyed the garage, continued on and took the roof off the house and then kept on going down the farm and wiped out the hay barn and implement shed as well.
The only positive about it is that we were all out at the time so no-one was injured. Our poor old Labrador was pretty stressed when I returned from town to the disaster. I’ve had to let her sleep inside since then because her bed which is or was in the garage was wrecked as well.
Who would ever have thought about a tornado coming through and doing that much damage in the Waikato? Not me that’s for sure.

The Egyptians removed their Jews 60 years ago. So now they only have Christians to kill. When the Christians are gone they will go after each other:

      Shite vs. Sunni
      Tribe vs. Tribe
      Family vs Family
      Brother vs Brother

Then it will be fun to watch!

  2. KG says:

Oh yes. All those people (like Liberty Scott) who were touting it as a good thing have gone vewy, vewy quiet…..

  3. Andrei says:

Wow, a communist talking sense – (Gennady Zyuganov’s views on Pussy Riot)

Personally I’d take an heavy leather belt, whip them solidly then send them back to their parents.

It would be an administrative punishment to remind them not to indulge in blasphemy and outrage anymore.

For the Orthodox people it was a slap in the face and the trial made it worse. This was used by many as the the basis for a fight against the spiritual basis of Russia

    • KG says:

Free speech is one thing. Deliberately offending people for it’s own sake is entirely another and those people who are supporting Pussy Riot need to take a good hard look at what they’re supporting.

  4. KG says:

    From our local school’s curriculum:
    Year 7 Science: “Sensational seasons”
Year 8 Science: “”Energy in the Community”
Year 9 Science: “Responding to change within an ecosystem”
Year 10 Science: “Responding to change within an ecosystem”

Guess who has captured the curriculum?

    • Andrei says:

A conversation from a few years ago with my Youngest

Tatiana: “We are doing a science project this week”

Andrei: “Excellent – what are you doing?” – imagining things like dropping a piece of sodium into a beaker of water and lighting the gas that comes off, you understand

Tatiana: “Our group has been given the task of making a poster on ‘Global Warming’ as our project”

    • Katie says:

You have to be kidding?!? :wtf :wtf :wtf In my day it was:

      Biology
      Chemistry
      Physics
      Earth Science

It gave a student a head start in science education.

KG, my old mum is 90 and fragile so I spend much time with her. I love your blog but she is, of course, more important. So I will be dipping out for a while; or at least, not concentrating. I know you understand that this does not even have to be said.

  6. Moist von Lipwig says:

Haven’t seen music here for a while.
While searching for the awesome Dobro wielding powers of Jerry Douglas,
    I found this….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDsAYVTJBcc
I don’t pretend to understand Dylan’s lyrics, but the Dobro is nice.

    • KG says:

I don’t usually like Dylan covers, von L, (with the notable exception of Sinead Lohan’s “To Ramona”) but that’s not bad.
Like most of Dylan’s lyrics, I suspect people read into them what they bring in terms of their own life experiences. ;-)

  7. Carole says:

Bob McCroskie, Family First, have a petition on line “Protect Marriage”. They want to present it prior to the reading of the bill on same sex marriage, next Wed. 29th.
Currently have 30,000+ signatures. Hope there is some support here.

    • Andrei says:

Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly,
and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men.
But his pleasure is in the law of the Lord; and in his law will he meditate day and night.
And he shall be as a tree planted by the brooks of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season,
and its leaf shall not fall off; and whatsoever he shall do shall be prospered.
Not so the ungodly;– not so: but rather as the chaff which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth.
Therefore the ungodly shall not rise in judgment, nor sinners in the counsel of the just.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

I suspect you’ll find the vast majority of commenters here vehemently oppose the war on traditional marriage, Carole. We wish Mr McCroskie the very best with his petition. I think many of us have signed it (I know I have).

  12. KG says:

‘A veteran Wall Street executive who performed an independent review that exonerated the Obama administration’s program of loans to energy companies contributed $52,500 to re-elect President Barack Obama in the months since completing his work, according to an Associated Press review of campaign records. The executive defended the integrity of his conclusions and said he decided to donate to Obama after his work was finished…’

‘HOPEWELL, Va. (WTVR) – A Hopewell circuit court judge has ordered that a Marine veteran detained over anti-government Facebook posts be released from a psychiatric hospital.

CBS 6 News’ Catie Beck said the judge dismissed the case Thursday against Brandon Raub. The judge said the original petition for Raub’s detention contained no facts. In other words, there was no information on why Raub was being held — and the judge deemed this violated his civil liberties.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

“This time we are in such deep trouble, the only solution is a radical restructuring of the politicians, the economy, and the way we view personal responsibility versus government handouts.”

I believe that is EXACTLY what Obama has in mind, though in a slightly different manner than what Mr Root (the article’s author) advocates.
