      Same shit up here. They did away with double jeopardy (the doctrines of ‘autrefois acquit’ and ‘autrefois convict’ which had been part of our common law since Norman times) ostensibly so they could convict some white yobs who knifed a black kid.

      On the surface it was nothing more than the naked appeasement of the Wacist!, Wacist!, Waycist! lobby but underneath the hidden agenda was so that the Thought Police can now keep coming at anybody they want time after time ‘finding’ new evidence on each occasion until our ancient justice system crumbles under the pressure.

    I opened the fridge, the light came on, the beer was well chilled as usual.

    Looks like the USA is going right over the financial cliff at speed and even accelerating (which will inevitably have bad consequences here in Godzone and globally). Recent events look dire:

    1) Looks like Obama and the Democrats finally realise the fiscal cliff is real and are now in full campaign mode to the get the public onside/doing an end run around Congress for keeping the tax cuts AND keeping the higher spending = something does not compute = massive ever increasing annual fiscal deficits and exponentially increasing debt & interest. What are the odd’s Boehner and the Republicans buckle and “reach across the aisle”?

    2) Remember earlier in the year when helicopter Ben started QEIII, he was authorised to print UP TOis $(US) 40 billion per month, every month for as long as it took/indefinitely. Well he started printing the full $40,000,000,000.00 EVERY month since then. But well lookie here – in the 3 months prior to the presidential election he spent $48 billion, then $56 billion and finally unknown (final actual still to be collated but looking to be $70 billion+). Who authorised this additional $54 billon+? Nobody knows (wink). And think that if this the new paradigm – printing money to infinity and beyond – $70 billion+ per month = a $TRILLION EVERY YEAR, and this is extra – monetary spending – over and above the nearly $trillion extra in fiscal spending every year. How long do you think even the mighty US can sustain an extra $2-3trillion (monetary+fiscal) every year further in the shit.
