Baffling

pollThis is a poll in a major Brit newspaper. Given there are no downsides to posting armed guards at schools, the thought processes of the majority “no” voters are a mystery. Any theories?

    Maybe rather than protecting little Jimmy and Judy from the very real dangers in the world, some parents would rather try and hide from them the reality that there *are* dangers in the world?

    I guess it’s a risk game. Is it worth having the big, scary man with the gun at the school every day on the very slim chance some psycho is gonna show up? The answer for me is clear. In fact I’d rather see teachers armed. Less threatening to little Jimmy and Judy, and far more able to respond quickly if something does go wrong.

    It is all about investment, they have invested their entire belief system on liberal policies, they cannot surrender a part of the ideology which is so important to their system. Their politics trump their children’s security.

    The kindergarten logic of ideas like “stop war” and “stop violence” applies to the masses, there is no difference between belligerents and defenders, and since there are no enemies, what could go wrong? Another example of how radical “liberal” beliefs turns logic on its head. Until reality catches up with us at least.

    Two reasons,first is the now bred in irrational fear of guns.

    Second, in the western world most people are naive.They like to believe that our society is somehow pious and pure and don’t believe that monsters walk among us.

    It’s all about the guns here,no mention of any other weapon or explosives.What will they do when some nut shows up and starts swinging a machete?

      Of course the solution is to identify the nuts and either treat them or institutionalise them. Taking guns away from law abiding citizens is not going to remove the problem. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_scratch.gif

        True. I see the nutter who ambushed the firefighters was already banned from owning guns, after spending 17 years in prison for beating his grandmother with a hammer!
        No amount of “gun control” is going to prevent that kind of thing.

    Having armed guards at schools is rather like having TSA officers patrolling the schools, not a pleasant prospect. Israel which has a strong reason to protect its schools from terrorist attack uses armed parent volunteers. They would not be threatening to the students and be strongly motivated to keep the children safe.

    I have a Brit friend who is every bit the seething conservative that I am – with the sole exception that she has been so conditioned against firearms that she worries that allowing them to be purchased and carried in society would be a ticket to pandemonium. Britain is a true test lab for the impact of left wing policy, as they seem much further down the leftist road than any other free nation. True, even Labor has abandoned its call for government ownership of the means of production, but economics aside, the left is on a full scale press in the UK, and we are not far behind now in the U.S., unfortunately.

    Unfortunately, it is not just the left in the UK. The firearms laws in the UK were initiated by the Tories to disarm the left in their country. How ironic.

    Look, the problem with leftists on gun control is they believe that if guns are banned, no…completely removed from existence, all violence will magically disappear. I fail to comprehend how they arrive at that conclusion but that must be what they think or else they would not continue to attack gun possession.

    I honestly believe that the left are mentally deficient because they can’t seem to think logically. Even worse than that, they refuse to believe the facts about increased gun possession decreasing crime.

    I have come to understand that the greatest problem/challenge for conservative is to provide the general population of Western countries with the truth.
