It is the 17th of March

    • Ronbo says:

CAESAR: “The ides of March are come.”

FORTUNE TELLER: “Ay, Caesar; but not gone.”

…and the Republicans wait in the Senate House with sharp knives for Caesar to appear…

    The Ides, the Ides!

      BRUTUS:

I agree, and then is death a benefit.
So do we, Caesar’s friends, that have cut
His time of fearing death.— Bend, Romans, bend,
And let’s wash our hands in Caesar’s blood
Up to the elbows, and smear our swords with it.
Then we will walk out, even to the market-place,
And waving our red weapons over our heads,
Let’s all cry, “Peace, freedom, and liberty!”

      CASSIUS:
Stoop then, and wash. How many ages hence
Shall this our lofty scene be acted over
In states unborn and accents yet unknown!
      CASSIUS:
Bend then, and wash. How often will our deed
Be acted over and over for future generations
In States and languages yet unknown!

Colorado Sheriffs stand up for 2A:
‘..Cooke is joined in his opposition to the proposals by El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa, who told an angry packed crowd at a meeting on Thursday in Colorado Springs he would stand firm against the bills.
“I can’t tell you when those were sold, bought and purchased. As far as I’m concerned, they were all pre-July 1 if the governor does sign this bill,” he said.
Maketa said the proposed laws were hastily crafted and at least one would be unenforceable. A number of Colorado sheriffs are concerned the laws could lead to registration of gun owners, he said.
Maketa said his office keeps records of every concealed carry permit holder in the county as required by law, but he would never share it.
He said he would destroy the database if anyone tried to get their hands on it and would intervene if government agents started arresting county residents for exercising their constitutional rights…’

There’s something stirring in Europe and I doubt it can be turned back. Contained, perhaps, but for how long?

        • Seneca III says:

People who for years have quietly, and not so quietly, been ridiculing me for my publicly outspoken views on the situation now emerging are more and more looking worried and are beginning to listen attentively and often agree with much of what I have been saying.

When they ask “What are we to do?” I can only reply “You have left it too late for any options to remain available to you. Now you going to have learn how to fight, and be prepared to do so to the bitter end, for if you do not you and yours will cease to exist in any recognisable form. Oh!, and by the way, don’t expect me to do the wet work for you. You forfeited that right long ago.”

Some laugh uproariously, some laugh nervously, some are confused and some look downright terrified. As so the latter should – something very nasty this way comes.

          Seneca III

          • Ronbo says:

            @Seneca:

Right you are, O Noble Roman!

The time of civil war has come.

The problem with a free country is that traitors will use free speech and assembly to advance the cause of tyranny – thus bloody civil wars from time to time are inevitable when it becomes obvious to the majority that you cannot compromise with evil.

I know you talked about it but I saw this and thought that it could add things to what we already know.

What are my rights at various “checkpoints”?

And don’t think this doesn’t exist inNazi Europe. I myself had a border control in the middle of France.

  7. mawm says:

Melanie Phillips is spot on once again with her piece on the attack on press freedom in the UK. This is well worth a read.

For more than half a century………… Parliament has consistently upheld the view that independence from the state is essential to a free Press.
Now the unholy alliance of Labour, the Lib Dems and the unelected campaigners of Hacked Off seek to bring that independence to an end.

    • KG says:

Damn right. Phillips is something of a lone voice in today’s Britain, though.
I can’t recall a time when free speech has been under attack on so many fronts, in so many supposedly free countries.

Refugees in my day had to show willing and usually worked bloody hard to be part of society. It is opposite now. Why?

    • KG says:

Why? Because multiculturalism says they don’t have to. And swamping the West with these lowlifes benefits the left, which is why socialist governments bribe them with OUR money.
