‘Twenty-year hiatus in rising temperatures has climate scientists puzzled
“Puzzled”? But AGW is the consensus view. So why the puzzlement?
…..Another paper published by leading climate scientist James Hansen, the head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, says the lower than expected temperature rise between 2000 and the present could be explained by increased emissions from burning coal.
It could probably be explained by Hansen producing another fraudulent “hockey stick” graph, too. And if Hansen is right, where does that leave all the green morons campaigning against coal burning power stations? They ought to be delighted to have identified a way of slowing the killer warming.
….International Panel on Climate Change chairman Rajendra Pachauri recently told The Weekend Australian the hiatus would have to last 30 to 40 years “at least” to break the long-term warming trend.
Really? Just a few years ago he was claiming that at least a dozen or so years of no rises was needed before they could draw any firm conclusions. Shifting goalposts is something of a habit with these dishonest pricks.
…..There are now a number of studies that predict future temperature rises as a result of man-made carbon dioxide emissions at well below the IPCC best estimate of about 3C over the century.
The upcoming IPCC report is expected to lift the maximum possible temperature increase to 6C…’
Double down on the lies and bullshit, guys–you may yet save your billions in grant money…

      No kiddin, when I lived in Florida back in the 1980’s one year the summer rains did not happen so some milionaire actually paid for the Seminole Indians to do their traditional rain dance, which they did, and sure enough, the clouds gathered and the rain poured! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

  3. You know its not science when they have a conclusion and as the results change, they keep trying to fit the facts to their conclusion.

    They had a theory, they made their predictions and the predictions were wrong. That tells us their theory is wrong, or at least that whatever their predictions are boil down to guess work, and we could equally assume a slightly warmer planet could be great news for us.

    • Just so.
      And looking at the huge numbers of deaths in Europe due to the severe and unusually long winter, a few degrees of warming would be far, far preferable.
      I haven’t seen a single explanation for this bloody-minded insistence on AGW – and the supposed terrible effects of it -that makes sense yet, Zen.
      It’s more like a mad cult than either science or good social policy.

Compare this story with the one you have below about the EU planning to spend 20% of their budget to ‘combat global warming.” And on this side of the pond, we had Obama laying down markers for a massive green push by claiming that global warming is unabated. The cognitive dissonance is about at maximum.

    And why the hell is James Hansen still in a position to control the U.S. temperature records. The man and the team he has put together are not scientists, their zealots, and indeed, they have altered temperature records to suit their cause. This really is like putting Dillinger in charge of national bank security standards. No one on the right has the balls to call for this guy to be terminated and his team kicked out of their offices.

    Lastly, since 1750 and the Industrial Revolution, the world population has been skyrocketing upward. The surprise has been that agricultural output has kept pace, despite a long line of very bright people since 1750 pointing out how such population increases would surely lead to mass starvation. Yes, there have been many advances in agriculture, but it seems quite likely that the single most important contribution to the ever increasing agricultural output has been ever more plant food (carbon dioxide) being put into the air.

    • Notice that the Green Freaks always leave off “dioxide” when talking about “carbon” – so as to give the impression that Co2 is some kind of of nasty, dirty CARBON thing. :twisted:
