‘The Horsehead Nebula as viewed at near-infrared wavelengths with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. This thick pillar of gas and dust is sculpted by powerful stellar winds blowing from clusters of massive stars located beyond the field of this image. The bright source at the top left edge of the nebula is a young star whose radiation is already eroding the surrounding interstellar material’

    You don’t know how much I would love to be out there looking at it up close and personal like :smile:

    Democrats kicked and screamed that we didn’t need to waste money on Hubble and that we should spend the money instead “solving problems here on Earth”read more welfare to the worthless.

    I think Hubble was a better deal.

    The James Webb telescope is supposed to be 100x more powerful than Hubble and with it’s position being shielded by the Moon and it’s sensors cooled to near absolute zero the images it sends back should be nothing short of spectacular.

    Except funding for it is in jeopardy yet again because NASA’s new mission is “reaching out to Muslims” :evil: :evil: :evil:

      @Darin:

      It looks like private contractors are taking control of manned space missions, which is as it should be.

      In Ye Olde Days of iron men and wooden ships, the first expeditions to the Americas and elsewhere were government projects, but the heavy lifting of colonialism was done by private individuals and companies.
