How do they taste and what is the best way of cooking them?

  2. KG says:

Horrible. Boil ’em with an old boot, throw away the emu and eat the boot.

  3. Odayu-sen says:

No, emus have to be boiled.
You put the emu and a stone into the pot, and boil, and boil, and boil. When the stone is soft, the emu is ready to eat.

  4. KG says:

Pigs love dead emu, though. So some end up dead as pig bait. (it’s not as though there’s any shortage of them).

  5. Darin says:

Emu farms were all the rage here, until every tablecloth cowboy in the country had a pair of Emu boots, then the bottom fell out.

Ha ha. Numerous times I watched those suckers run straight into (6 wire)fences- at full noise. Big cloud of dust and feathers, disoriented do-dos…

Fixing said fences wasn’t funny though.

  7. KG says:

Damn things. Utterly brainless and they make a mess if you hit one in the car.

Sounds like an American Leftist when you hit one with your heavy Chevy :!:

        • Ronbo says:

          @Darin:

More feel good this morning in America:

” The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Obama’s job performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove (see trends).

These figures include 25% who Strongly Approve of the way Obama is performing as president and 38% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13. ”

Therefore, we American revolutionists have the one-third necessary public support for the overthrow of the Obama Regime – and then some – all that needs to be done is the necessary radicalization.

And Comrade Obama is doing a great job on that of late.

“Waiter! I will have another cup of tea, please :!:”

            Ron,those aren’t the numbers I am watching.

            I pay more attention to
            7.62×54
            7.62×51
            .30-06
            5.56
            .22lr
12ga slugs……….ALL of which are flooding back on the shelves

“ALL of which are flooding back on the shelves”
    Any idea why?
No shortage here, Darin. My local (well, 500km away) gun shop is trying to sell me a Remington 300Blackout but can’t explain what the caliber does that 30-30 won’t do and is very vague about ammo price and future availability.
    I smell a fad…..
Looking at a Tikka T3 in .243…..beautiful workmanship. Remmy and Marlin have lost me in any case.

The mfgs finally caught back up with demand and the milsurp people finally got some new stocks in.That and a lot of folks like me just gave up looking since we weren’t finding anything on the shelves.

      The low down on .300BO-

Basically it turns a short barreled AR or AK into a poor mans MP5.It could have some value as a hunting round since it’s subsonic??? IIRC.

I haven’t paid much attention to it and haven’t shot any either,I tend to stick to milsurp for plinking and target loads for well…. targets

Edit:It is sonic at 1,010FPS,but at 225grain it should pack a punch.

Funny how Emus taste lousy but Ostrich is pretty good as a jerky.
