Amateur hour. N.Z.

AOS ‘Police have named the man who was shot by an armed officer after lying face-down and being handcuffed yesterday.
Iriheke Te Kani Manu Pere, 33, was critically injured when a police firearm was accidentally discharged during his arrest outside a Hastings house…’
The AOS is supposed to be the highly-trained response to armed offenders…I’ve watched these guys in action, and I wouldn’t give ’em the job of rounding up stray dogs.
Update: ‘New Zealand Police can not shoot for S***’  (  Thanks PM of NZ)

The last time they tried that, they expended multiple full mags and still the mutt got away.

Trigger discipline. It’s not so hard…

wait- I thought the gvt policy is – only police have guns (except in England) –because citizens just cannot handle guns–

I’ve seen these chaps training with their Glocks.

The words that come to mind is “Generally Inept”.

One little uniformed tubbette was so scared of the big noisy gun she couldn’t hit the paper target from 6 meters away. There there were the two big lads with Bushmasters doing tactical drills. Plod 2 had the muzzle of his cocked rifle pointing into the back of Plod 1 for much of the time. I couldn’t bear to look.

Seriously, there’re few things more off-putting to one’s tranquility of mind than a bug-eyed police officer in a stress situation waving a firearm around.

Yep, seen it first-hand too and agree.

There is more emphasis on drills and procedure than on marksmanship and weapons handling.

Simply, it’s not enough rounds down the range.

Since the cops can’t hit anything, then maybe a new drill would be to throw the empty gun at the criminal :?:

Seriously, when I was Vietnam this infantry sergeant said he was a terrible shot with his .45 pistol, so when in the middle of a dark and stormy night the enemy charged him, he beaned the VC with the gun after he emptied the magazine to no effect.
